Abstract:

CARBON DIOXIDE Capture AND GEOLOGICAL STORAGE IS AN ENABLING TECHNOLOGY THAT WILL ALLOW THE CONTINUED USE WELL INTO THIS CENTURY OF FOSSIL FUELS, THEY ARE IMPORTANT FOR POWER GENERATION AND COMBUSTION IN INDUSTRIAL PROCESSES BECAUSE THEY ARE RELATIVELY ABUNDANT, CHEAP, AVAILABLE. BUT FOSSIL FUELS PRODUCE CO2 THAT IT IS HARMFUL FOR ENVIRONMENT. CO2 Capture FROM COMBUSTION PROCESSES CAN BE ACHIEVED BY VARIOUS APPROACHES: POST-COMBUSTION Capture, PRE-COMBUSTION Capture, AND OXY-COMBUSTION. ALL THREE OF THESE PATHWAYS ARE UNDER INVESTIGATION. FOR LONG-TERM CO2 STORAGE, GEOLOGICAL MEDIA ARE MAINLY OIL AND GAS RESERVOIRS AND DEEP SALINE AQUIFERS THAT STORAGE OF GASES, INCLUDING CO2, IN THESE MEDIA HAS BEEN DEMONSTRATED ON A COMMERCIAL SCALE BY ENHANCED OIL RECOVERY OPERATIONS. THIS PAPER DISCUSSES THE CURRENT STATUS OF THE DEVELOPMENT AND BARRIERS OF CO2 Capture AND STORAGE.

Abstract:

Background: Due to a strong correlation between maternal mortality rate (MMR) and developmental indicators, MMR is regarded as a development index in communities. One of the deficiencies in the MMR data registries is the under-reporting due to the rare incidence of maternal mortality in the target population and the diversity of information resources. Methods: This study used a three-source Capture-reCapture method to estimate the MMR. This method can be used to calculate the under-reporting of different data registries. The sample size included all maternal mortality cases registered between 2010 and 2014 in the National Maternal Survey System, National Organization for Civil Registration, and National Death Registration System. Population estimation models including log-linear models, sample coverage approach (SCA), and the Akaike’ s information criterion (AIC) were employed by the Capture-reCapture method. Results: The MMR was estimated to be 22. 15, 21. 49, 19. 55, 19. 77, and 18. 97 per 100000 live births from 2010 to 2014, respectively. The coverage rate of the three sources of data was estimated at 73%, 83%, 82%, 80%, and 83% between 2010 and 2014, respectively. Conclusions: The results of the study indicate that the Capture-reCapture method using three sources of data can be utilized to estimate the MMR with higher validity than using only one data source.

Abstract:

Boron neutron Capture therapy (BNCT) was introduced in 1960’s, but showed little development, as the thermal and epithermal neutron sources were not economical. Nuclear reactors, and recently cyclotrons are being used as neutron sources, thus enabling its widespread utilization (1).Gamma rays are utilized for the irradiation of tumor tissues, and fractional doses up to 50-60 Gray required for tumor ablation in conventional radiation therapy. Such high doses naturally irradiate healthy tissues, and thus result in healthy tissue injury.

Abstract:

BACKGROUND: Publication bias is an important factor that may result in selection bias and lead to overestimation of the intervention effect. In this study, the focus was on using Capture-reCapture method as a statistical procedure which may possibly be a practical means for measuring the amount of publication bias.METHODS: A systematic review was conducted to estimate the duration of protection provided by hepatitis B vaccine by measuring the anamnestic immune response to booster doses of vaccine and retrieved studies from three separate sources of electronic databases, reference lists of the studies, and conference databases as well as contact with experts and manufacturers. Capture-reCapture and some conventional methods such as funnel plot, Begg test, Egger test, and trim and fill method were employed for assessing publication bias.RESULTS: Based on Capture-reCapture method, completeness of the overall search results was 87.2% [95% CI: 84.6% to 89.0%] and log-linear model suggested 5 [95% CI: 4.2 to 6.2] missing studies. The funnel plot was asymmetric while Begg and Egger tests results were statistically insignificant and trill and fill approach made no change in pooled effect. CONCLUSIONS: Capture-reCapture method may be a useful practical approach for estimating the number of missing studies which are not usually detected by search strategy. As a result, use of Capture-reCapture method as an alternative approach could be suggested for estimating the extent of publication bias based on overlapping information rather than mirror image of extreme values on funnel plot.

Abstract:

The present study aims to provide guidelines for using screenCapture technology in translation process research. ScreenCapture technology reFers to digital recording of actions on a computer screen. The study shows how a researcher, making use of screenCapture, can obtain information regarding the diFFiculties and issues involved in the process of translation. In this study, a group of translators were given limited amount of time to complete their work, andat the same time their performance on the computer screen was recorded by means of a screenCapture application. The data provided valuable information such as self-correction, pause, compromising, dictionary use, shortcuts and immediate revision in the process of translation. Using such a device, one could reduce the Former disadvantages in translation process research using think-aloud protocols which made the participants conscious of being studied. The article finallylists a number of advantages of using this method as well as its limitations.

Abstract:

Capturing and storing CO2 (carbon dioxide) from concentrated industrial sources (e.g., cement industries and coal power plants) is a promising technology, as part of a mix of measures, for mitigating global warming. However, the implementation of Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) also involves potential hazards and their impacts that must be addressed to ensure its safe operation. This paper aims to produce a compendium of major hazards that a CCS operation could create. The main hazards of the CCS chain include the leakage of stored CO2, accidents during transportation, the possibility of induced seismicity, and a lot more. The hazards associated with CCS encompass not only technical aspects but also factors related to human or organizational behaviour. The hazards associated with CCS may impact humans as well as the environment and may cause economic loss associated losses CCS infrastructure and liability for potential accidents. A compendium of hazards is needed to address the hazards, risks, and safety of CCS installations is presented.
