Abstract:

The Present Paper seeks to compare the Religiousity among university students and other young people. The rationale is the attention paid by social research on the relationship between modernity and secularism. Although Peter Berger has changed his idea regarding the secularism being the final result of modernity, but it is still claimed that people with higher level of education are less inclined toward religion than others. In other words, university students show lower level of Religiousity. The present paper by employing Berger's conceptual framework and taking into account the varions dimensions of Religiousity seeks to examine Religiousity among these two groups of people. The results confirmed the revised idea of Berger. In other words, no significant difference were found. Yet no single pattern in Religiousity is followed by all people. For this reason, it is better to describe the situation as multi-dimensional Religiousity.

Abstract:

Background & Aim: General health is not determined just by disease and its treatment, but it depends on other psychological and social conditions. Among these conditions, personality trait, religiosity and happiness could be considered as the most important. This study aimed to determine the relationship between personality trait, religiosity and happiness with general health among nursing students.Material & Methods: It was a descriptive, correlational study. The research population included all nursing students of Islamic Azad University of Varamin-Pishva Branch in 2012-13 academic years. Totally 140 nursing students (96 females and 44 males) were selected by stratified random sampling. All of them completed the questionnaires including Costa and McCrae personality trait, Allport and Ross religiosity orientation, Argyle and Luo happiness and Goldberg and Hillier general health. Data was analyzed using Pearson correlation and stepwise regression using of SPSS-PC (v.19).Results: neuroticism (r=-0.42) had a negative significant relationship with general health and extroversion (r=0.27), agreeableness (r=0.31), conscientiousness (r=0.22), internal religiosity orientations (r=0.36) and happiness (r=0.27) showed a positive significant relationship with general health (P<0.05). In a predictor model, only neuroticism, internal religiosity orientations, happiness and extroversion predicted 37 percent of general health. The share of neuroticism was higher compared to other variables. Conclusion: According to the findings, neuroticism, internal religiosity orientations, happiness and extroversion were the most important predictors of general health. Therefore, it is suggested that planners, therapists and psychosocial counselors consider the symptoms of these variables and design appropriate programs to improve the general health of nursing students.

The study population was consisted of all married graduate level students at Semnan University during the Iranian academic year 1394. A total sample size of 299 individuals (159 males and 140 females) were selected using stratified random sampling. To collect data, marital commitment questionnaire of Adams and Jones (1997), religiosity questionnaire of Glock and Stark (1965), and social responsibility scale of Harrison Gough (1987), were used. Furthermore, data was analyzed using correlation and stepwise multivariate regression analysis method. Abstract:

Although the historical and geographical origin of modernism is related to the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries in Europe, but there is no doubt that it has increasingly affected the farthest places in the world till today and still moves forward to equalize the cultures of different nations. One of the most important characteristics of modernism from the beginning to the end of 1960 decade is opposition with religion, tradition and the past but from then onward, we gradually see the increasing tendency to religion and tradition in the world; such that some have named the new period as post-modernity. Antony Giddens believes the essential elements of modernism are still present and strengthened in the new period because the essence of modernism is pluralism not opposition with tradition. This writing will compare the prior and later approaches of modernism after mentioning its epistemological, ontological and sociological characteristics and will analyze the factors which have changed this orientation such as inability of science to answer some fundamental questions of human and the meaning of life, epistemological doubt in the bases of science, formation of social and mental crisis and even changes in the basis of classic religions and formation of newborn religious movements and… and will show that changes in the bases of new technology and science and some main changes in the principles of religious and traditional thought is the way to rescue from destructive crisis of mankind.

It correlation coefficient was -0.322. Also, of the two constructs of religion, raised in the study as hypotheses, faithfulness was approved with a 0.134 correlation coefficient.
