Objectives: Retirement impacts different dimensions of life such as physical, psychological, social, economic, and spiritual aspects. Since identification of the factors promoting or demoting health situation of retirees is important; this study aimed to determine the level of retirement syndrome in Babol retirees.Methods & Materials: This cross-sectional study was conducted on 205 retirees aged over 50 years. Data were gathered by a questionnaire consisting of 2 sections; Demographic characteristics and retirement syndromes. Retirement syndrome questionnaire consisted of 40 questions in 5-point scale (“never” to “always”) in 4 dimensions of “helplessness and failure”, “older and idleness”, “trying and new directions”, and “conflict and confusion”. Data were analyzed by SPSS. The Pearson and Spearman tests were used to evaluate the within group variables. To analyze the data, the correlation coefficient test, t-test, and analysis of variance (ANOVA) were performed. The significant level for all tests was set at 0.05.Results: About 53% of the participants were male and 47% female with an average (SD) age 61.13 (5.87) years. Means (SD) scores of “helplessness and failure”, “older and idleness”, “trying and new directions”, and “conflict and confusion” were 2.08 (0.52), 3.73 (0.51), 3.47 (0.65) and 2.49 (0.56), respectively. There were a direct significant association between “feeling helplessness” and “conflict and confusion” (P<0.0001) and a reverse relationship between “older and idleness” and “trying and new directions” (P<0.0001).Conclusion: Findings of this research showed that retirees of Babol County partly suffer from retirement syndrome. Therefore, paying attention to them and promotion of the retirees’ situation seems necessary.

Examining the current socio-cultural status of police retirees and identifying their issues and problems were the aims of this research. This research benefited from a combined method (qualitative-quantitative) of exploratory design. In the first stage (qualitative), 25 retirees from different spectrums were selected for interview according to purposeful and theoretical saturation. In the second stage (quantitative), based on codifying and compiling the information content obtained from the interviews, a questionnaire was made. After that, based on simple random sampling method and the total number of all retirees of a police force unit across the country equaling to 2149 people, according to Cochran formula, 338 people were selected to participate in the research. The reliability of the questionnaire was calculated as 87% using Cronbach's alpha method and its validity was confirmed by obtaining the opinions of experts and professors and also by reviewing the literature in this field. The results of the quantitative section were analyzed in the form of descriptive tables using independent t-test. According to the findings of this research, the socio-cultural status of retirees is relatively favorable with an average of 2. 34 but not ideal. The respondents declared themselves a trusted person of the locals as the positive aspect of their socio-cultural status during retirement. Furthermore, the respondents reported their socio-cultural problems during retirement as inappropriate treatment when referring to the organization in order to do administrative work and also the inappropriateness of the jobs type offered to a retiree.

The concept of quality of life has witnessed extensive advances in methodological issues and theoretical approaches in recent years. But it is still not possible to use theoretical models with high confidence in every society and stratum. Accordingly, this study seeks to provide a local model of quality of life for social security retirees in Ilam city using the data quality method. Accordingly, by analyzing 15 interviews that were purposefully selected, the researcher became theoretically saturated. The findings of this study showed that in the coding process, the researcher extracted 123 meaningful propositions, 258 corresponding concepts, 38 sub-categories and 14 main categories from the total of interviews, which finally obtained a core category by combining these fourteen main categories. According to which the quality of life of retirees is chaotic, unstable and fragile due to financial and health problems and irresponsible government policies in the context of identity disorder, competency analysis and reducing the meaning of life by intervening and worrying about changing work-life routines with non-protection strategies Retirees, poor financing and diet, and weak pension funds have become the unfortunate consequences of end-of-life, loneliness, and feelings of extreme regret.

Introduction: Suicide, a critical global health and social issue, manifests with increasing frequency among economically vulnerable populations. So far, the most important factor in the issue of suicide is the medical, and especially psychiatric model, sociology and economics also have an important contribution to this issue. Factors such as low socioeconomic status and unemployment were identified as significant risk factors for suicidal behaviors. This study investigated work-related suicide in Iran, focusing on workers and retirees facing economic hardship. Materials and Methods: We analyzed factors such as unemployment, job insecurity, and economic instability that contribute to suicidal behavior among these groups. Results: Previous research indicates that economic pressures, coupled with inadequate mental health support, increase suicide risk. News from Iran reveals alarming trends, including a rise in suicides among dismissed and financially strained workers across multiple provinces, reflecting a broader socioeconomic crisis. Conclusion: Findings underscore the urgent need for comprehensive intervention strategies, including workplace modifications, mental health training for employees, and accessible financial support systems. Recommendations are offered for policymakers and health providers, emphasizing preventative measures that address economic and psychosocial stressors in workplace environments

This study was conducted with the aim of constructing and validating the scale for retirement syndromes in male and female retirees in Esfahan retirement centers in the spring of 1997. In order to reach the goal of the study, of the retirees enrolled with retirement centers, 461 people were selected depending on their gender using stratified random sampling. A questionnaire with 65 question items was developed using preliminary interviews, theoretical literature, consulting authorities in the field, identify the factors indicating the retirement syndromes, i.e. the set of feelings and signs that retirees experience, and once pilot- tested on 30 retirees on rolled with retirement centers, a questionnaire with 52 questions was developed based on the previous questionnaire. The criteria for selecting questions were the presence of positive correlation with the whole test and positive factorial load of 0.4. Once the questions were selected and tested on a study sample of 461, the reliability of the test construct was examined using the factor analysis and varimax rotation.In second order factor analysis, four factors capable of accounting for a total of 47.152 of the total variance, were extracted the Cronbach’s Alpha for the four factors were 0.764, 0.600, 0.541 and 0.400 respective being significant at p<0.01 level. The Cronbach’s Alpha for the whole test, too, was estimated to be 0.714.
