Abstract: 

The importance of the structure of aptitude as a determining element in choosing life paths in general and educational and professional careers in particular has always been acknowledged by the researchers of the field. Amongst miscellaneous majors sub-classified under the educative and behavioral sciences, it seems that despite having a prominent and influential position in different areas especially educational and professional ones, and also enjoying a high level of scientific richness and meaningful content in terms of theorizing and producing new knowledge, Counseling has not explicitly addressed the subject matter of aptitude at sufficient length. The present qualitative research has made an attempt to delve into identification of aptitude by using two qualitative methods, i. e. synthetic analysis and theme analysis. To accomplish this goal, the technical texts in counselling were referred to so as to collect and record their views about the ways in which aptitude can be identified. The obtained data was then analyzed by seven-level Colaizzi’ s method and drawing a network of themes was made possible. By drawing a network of themes, 29 counseling methods and techniques which could be used in aptitude identification precess were specified. The results of this research, which is regarded as basic research and a prerequisite, can be used effectively to take the next step towards devising a model and a domestic method for identification of aptitude in Iran.

Abstract: 

The purpose of the present research was to investigate the factorial structure of Persian version of the Multidimensional aptitude Battery (MAB) in students’ population. First, the subtests were translated into Farsi. Then, it was retranslated into English and compared with the original version to find and correct the gaps between the translated version and the original version. Finally, after the pilot study and resolving the mistakes, the final subtests were carried out for sample group consisting of 315 students studying in Humanities and basic Sciences in Tabriz Payame Noor University. In this study, Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) and also Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) were conducted on the 10 subtests of the MAB, using a Principal Component Analysis, with Varimax Rotation. Cattell’s scree plot and Horn’s parallel analysis indicated the two factor solutions. The results showed the two factors clearly. The first factor accounted for 41.24% and the second factor about 14.98% of the variance in the subtests set. As the original scale, these factors were called Performance and Verbal scales, according to subtests contents.

Objective: The purpose of this article was to determine the validity, reliability and standardization of Tool Matching and Form Matching Tests from General aptitude Test Batteries.Method: The study population was the entire first grade students of Isfahan high schools. In this study 1200 subjects (600 first grade girl students and 600 first grade boy students) were selected randomly from 32771 students. Tool Matching and Form Matching Tests were tested on the subjects.Results: Discrimination power of the Form Matching Test Questions was adequate except in the questions number 1, 3 and 34 to 60. The reason for low discrimination coefficient of questions 34 to 60, was the short time for answering. The discrimination power for Tool Matching Test in questions 15, 21 and 28 to 49 was adequate, but it was low or nil in the other questions. Chronbach alpha was used to evaluate the reliability of Tool Matching and Form Matching Tests; the Chronbach alpha were 0.90 and 0.87, respectively. Factor analysis was used for the evaluation of the validity of these tests. The results showed that the Tool Matching and Form Matching Tests from General aptitude Test Batteries have adequate and acceptable validity.Conclusion: Using the results of this study two sets of the instrument containing 31 and 28 questions with accompanying norms are available for use in educational consultations.

Abstract: 

The purpose of this study was making and standardizing a computer-aided aptitude assessment tool for students. The research method was descriptive survey. The statistical population consisted of students from the tenth and eleventh grades of Ardabil high schools in 2017 (N = 3000). The sample size were 200 students (elementary school student) and in the second stage (400 pupils of the 10th grade, 240 elementary school students) who were selected by multistage random cluster sampling. The research instrument consisted of a researcher-made test of academic aptitude that contained seven 25-point The method of analysis of research was factor analysis and Pearson correlation coefficient and discrimination analysis. The results of the reliability of each subtest by re-test showed that the reliability of abstract reasoning (r = 0. 78); spatial ability reliability (r = 0. 73); form-based reasoning (r = 0. 74); reliability The numerical reasoning (r = 0. 77); the reliability of the mental rotation (r = 0. 79); verbal comprehension reliability (r = 0. 74); verbal fluidity (r = 0. 80) and The total reliability of the test was 0. 75. Also, the results showed the validity of the test the validity were 0. 71, 0. 67, 0. 73, 0. 67 and verbal comprehension and verbal fluidity with general information test was 0. 71 and 0. 65. Also, based on the results of the audit function, Therefore, it can be said that with confidence 68% of students are classified into their field of study.
