DURING RECENT YEARS, THE DESIRED FEATURES OF SELF-COMPACTING CONCRETE HAS CAUSED INCREASED USE OF THIS NEW CONSTRUCTION MATERIAL. ON ONE HAND, USING HIGH MEASURES OF CEMENT IN MAKING SELF-COMPACTING CONCRETE IS COMMON AND CAUSES ECOLOGICAL DAMAGE AND ALSO INCREASING THE COST OF CONCRETE, SO THAT TODAY CONCRETE AND CEMENT INDUSTRY ARE CONSIDERED AS ONE OF GREAT CONSUMERS OF NATURAL SOURCES AND ALSO ONE OF SIGNIFICANT SOURCES FOR ENVIRONMENTAL POLLUTANTS. IN THIS RESEARCH, THE EFFECT OF NATURAL POZZOLAN PUMICE ON THE PROPERTIES OF FRESH AND SELF-COMPACTING CONCRETE HAS BEEN STUDIED. IN THIS REGARD, IN MIXING PLANS, THE PUMICE POWDER SUBSTITUTED FOR CEMENT FOR VALUES OF 10, 20, 30 AND 40% WEIGHT HAS BEEN EXAMINED BY RHEOLOGY TESTS (SLUMP FLOW TEST, U BOX TEST, V FUNNEL TEST, L BOX TEST AND J RING TEST) AND COMPRESSIVE STRENGTH IN VARIOUS AGES BY TWO RATES OF 36:0 AND 40: 0 OF WATER TO CEMENT. THE OBTAINED RESULTS SUGGEST THAT BY INCREASING THE PERCENT OF SUBSTITUTED PUMICE, THE FLUENCY OF SELF-COMPACTING CONCRETE IS DECREASED AND ITS VISCOSITY IS INCREASED. ALSO PUMICE POZZOLAN CAUSES REDUCTION OF CONCRETE’S COMPRESSIVE STRENGTH AND BY INCREASING THE RATE OF WATER TO CEMENT MATERIALS, THE DECLINE OF FLOW AND COMPRESSIVE STRENGTH IS INCREASED. BY STUDYING THE RESULTS OF THE CONDUCTED TESTS, THE SAMPLES OF ORDINARY SELF-COMPACTING CONCRETES IN BOTH RATES OF WATER TO CEMENT MATERIALS HAVE BETTER FUNCTION THAN SELF-COMPACTING CONCRETES CONTAINING PUMICE POZZOLAN.
