The history of library based on documents is somehow interrelated with the history of endowment. So introducing the endowers of manuscripts, recognizing and indexing each one of them, translating a portion of their biography is the primary aim of researchers in the library. According to this fact, in the following writing the biography of late Hojatul-Islam Haj sheikh Mohammad Hassan Allami and index of manuscripts belong to his library which has been donated to Sarkar Faith Athar Razavi library in 1382 (lunar calendar) has been introduced.

The course Library Materials and Services for New Literate Adults is the only course for which no suitable text is translated into Farsi. During the last 30 years the topics mostly related to adult basic education courses were presented in this course. But teachers knew that the philosophy of these two courses is not the same and therefore, prepared many suitable topics for their classes. Till now, six books have been published in this regards. Although these books have a lot in common, each includes different parts based on research conducted in Iran, These parts have the potentials to be presented and discussed as topics with rich information for the course. The collected endeavour in this regards lead to topics which may be regarded as nativeknowledge in library and information studies.

Every development plan, once implemented, leads to production of documents such as map, technical drawings, schematics and blue sheet which are often called drawings. These are in fact the knowledge products that mark an invaluable information source. But like all information resources, these are considered valuable entities only when they could be accessed and utilized. In other word, they should be organized in a way so that they could be appropriately stored, retrieved and used. The lack of such system in Iran leads to the idea of designing an outline for storage and retrieval of just such kind of information material. Upon reviewing the theoretical principles, several classification schemes, Marc 21 and IranMarc, we decided to base our classification schemes and organization methods on March 21 and IranMarc. The outline is designed so that to organize such materials at minimal cost while providing an optimal storage and retrieval facility for such drawings.

Retrieving information as precise and fast as possible is the great objective of all librarians. To achieve that, some tools have been developed of which indexes are an example. Indexes that have now found sophisticated forms thanks to computers, were developed in eastern library and bibliographic traditions influenced by Islam due to the high importance of Koran among Islamic societies. Concordances are examples of such indexes that have been utilized for so many years. This paper studies the concordance as well as some other tables said to belong to I'timad-Assaltanih in a copy of Koran published in 1313 solar hegira. It also aims to show that where interest and importance have been the basis, as for Koran, sophisticated retrieving tools have been developed when nobody could even think of modern available sophisticated technologies.

Information science is concerned with searching and retrieval of text and other information, mostly in electronic databases and on the Internet. In this new era the traditional subject classification is facing many problems. This paper addresses the problem of traditional subject classification. First of all it states the fundamental features of the subject classification. Then the structural limitation that constrains traditional subject classification from different approaches such as incommensurability thesis, knowledge structure, fuzzy logic and hypertext system has been analyzed.

This research is trying to find out how the Astan Qods Libraries (A.Q. Libraries) can meet the information needs of high school and university students in Mashhad. The research community includes the high school and university students that are members of one of the A.Q. Libraries. The results show that more than 80% of the needed information of the research community are satisfied. There is no meaningful difference between the information needs of the high school and university students. The collection of the A.Q. Libraries is more suitable for high school students than the university students.

The term of open source refers to software in which the source code is free for others to view, amend and adapt. This article provides a brief introduction to the open source software movement in libraries form a librarian's perspective. The article highlights and compares few open source integrated library systems available via the Internet.

This article describes the development of a model for academic libraries that is used to give detailed insight in the library's current financial structure and to quantify the impact of the transition to digital environment. Moving forward, certain library services, activities and costs will decrease whereas others will increase. How will this affect the library budget? The project gave all participants detailed insight into library costs before and after such a transition, and showed that the added value of library services increases. The model is a co operation of the libraries of the universities of Utrecht in the Netherlands, Lulea in Sweden and Bremen in Germany. Elsevier commissioned this project; Atos KPMG Consulting delivered the methodology (Rapid Activity Based Costing) and financial expertise.
