Abstract: 

Many improvement approaches with different effectiveness have been introduced to the industry by researchers and university professors. Six Sigma Methodology is one of this approaches which formed within the industry and has attracted the attention of scientific societies and academies all over the world due to its outstanding effectiveness. By having high analysis capability, this methodology which first set up in the production units found its way rapidly through service sectors which have great improvement opportunities. In this article, the experience and learning obtained from implementation of this methodology in Shahid Rajaee Port are given.

Abstract: 

Evaluating the productivity of research and development centers (R&D centers) is one of the important issues for both governmental and private sectors.First of all, in this article some evaluating criteria will be designed and then a creative model, based on statistical quality control techniques and projects pursuit cumulative sum (PPCUSUM) approach, Will be formulated. By using the designed model, we can monitor the mean vector of criteria and covariance matrix. Finally, an example will be presented.

Abstract: 

In this article the issue of integrated storage space assignment together with berth allocation for import containers in a container terminal is extended. This problem is adopted from a real world situation in which the type of container affects the decision making process for the storage space assignment problem. A two-level approach is proposed to solve this problem. The storage space allocation problem and the berth assignment problem are formulated as mathematical programming models in two consecutive levels. In the first level, the import containers are assigned to the storage blocks in order to minimize the storage/retrieval times of the containers. The vessels are then allocated to the berth locations in the second level according to the results obtained from the first level in order to minimize the total distance traveled by container handling equipments between the storage blocks and the vessel berth locations in the yard. The performance of the extended model is examined and verified by a number of numerical examples.

This model provides a summary of operation simulation for each commercial port within the framework of a dynamic system. Hence, it could be evaluated by analysis of sensitivity behavior of port system during a period against different policies. The model could be compared with organization objectives and expectations of other institutions and stakeholders. Thereby; the managers could present a model for performance development of each commercial Ports under study.In addition to the main objectives, minor objectives are involved including:• Studying the effect of forecasting the perspective for the demand in port services upon performance attributes.• Submitting proposals for the improvement of systems and determining bottlenecks• Forecasting the capacity.
