Traditional characteristics in modern poetry are used to enrich the literary texts. These charecteristics, especialty those of Ahle Beit (the progeny of Prophet Mohammad, Pbuh) have new connotations and perspectives in the literary texts.The Iraqi poet, Yahya Al_Samavi, has strived to enjoy the religious charactors as an art device to express his ideas. Imam Hussein (Pbuh) is one these charactors appeared in the form of symbol. Imam Hussain is the most prominent motif in Yahia Al_Samawy’s poem, and often symbolizes devotion, dedication, persistence, justice, and saving people from the tyranny of rulers.Eploying analytic-descriptive method, we try to discuss and analysis the motif phenomenon in Yahia Al_Samawy’s poem. This article surveys three works of poet: “Hazehi khymati fa ein al wattan?”, “Neqosh ala jeza’nakhle”, and “Le maza ta'akharte dahran?”

Islamic literature discourse picks out different speech styles to convey the massage of speech and make way for penetrating into the soul of the addressee. The origion of this approach is the belief that the psychological structure of human beings varies, and this requires following different speech styles to lead the addressee toward benevolence and well-being by conveying the rightful message. In this regard, literary images and different sentence structures are also used.Among the various styles in Islamic literature discourse, this article has just paid attention to the literary techniques or styles, and attempted to explain how to utilize any of them to communicate with and influence the addressee. It also mentions some Quranic and Tradition examples for each of them.

Considering the importance of Mu'allaqat in Arabic literature, and in the various sciences of language and literature, and containing many of the jahelliah words, many of commentators paid attention to it such as Al_Nahhas in his book "Sharh al_Qasa’id al_Mashhoorat".The present study, using descriptive-analytical method, intends to study the method of Al_Nahhas in his book in order to analyze and examine his method in applying the syntax.The results of the study revealed that Al_Nahhas paid attention to the syntax and it is clear in some cases such as: reference to pronouns references, expressing the meaning of letters, as well as comparis his reasons in the syntax and i’rab, as he applied different evidence from the holy Quran and Arabic poetry to explain the syntax.

One of the interesting topics for the linguists, including the functionalist linguists, in discourse analysis is cohesion. From their viewpoint, discourse analysis is the study of communication, correlation and links existing between the sentences in, written and verbal discourses. In other words, the important points in such analysis are the concept of cohesion and how meanings of sentences or statements are linked in a discourse. By reviewing of some researches related to the Holy Quran, it is obvious that the issue of cohesion in the Holy Quran has long gained attention by the researchers.Many of them have analyzed the cohesion in Quran by studying its verses including the "theory of verse" presented by Abdol-Ghaher Jorjani. The present research, by using descriptive-analytic and statistical approaches, has studied cohesion and coherence in a quantitative manner based on the "Coherence and Cohesion Model" by Hasan (1984) and also Halliday and Hasan (1985) in sura “Al-Saff”. By using a scientific method, and not merely a theoretical study, we concluded that in spite of the existence of a variety of themes in Sura "Al_Saff", it has a high level of cohesion and coherence.

The beautiful literary methods and different lingual and musical structures used in the Holy Quran are so wonderful that in every time, it is possible to study it from various aspects and by various methods. Formalists' and structuralists' approach of study could help us to perceive the aesthetical aspects of the Holy Quran. This article studies the lingual and musical structures of Sura Taqvir. The study results showed that the objective structure has a regular coordination and purposive harmony. Parallelism in musical and lingual repetition is one of the fundamental methods for foregrounding. All of the lingual, grammatical and musival structures are harmonious and in the interest of the religious purposes of the Holy Quran. Therefore, Sura Taqvir enjoys regular and harmonious lingual and musical structures.

Humor, as a rhetorical and literary device, is used in the literature of almost every country in the world. The distinguished Egyptian writer Naguib Mahfouz sees humor as the most effective means for reflecting the ills pains and sufferings and suppressions of Egyptian society. To this end, in most of his novels, he uses different modes of irony and humor to express his anger and disgust of the suppression enwrapping his country. And the humor that he uses is generally meant to soothe of the people of his country.The current research is an attempt to investigate the use of the elements of humor in one of the novels of Naguib Mahfouz, "Miramar" Mahfouz uses literature in general and humor specifically as a tool to fight and also to delineate the political, social, and economic sufferings that the Egyptian people were experiencing. Moreover, it will try to show what special techniques the author implements to make the best use of this rehtorical device.Mahfouz, in this novel, critiques the social and political problems that are engulfing the country and conveys his ideas to the readers through a mostly implicit and indirect use of language. Comic combination of words is often used to bring smile onto the face of his readers when criticizing the current situation of the country.Mahfouz uses both artistic and rhetorical devices such as simile, irony, metaphor, hyperbole, anti-thesis, understatement, and colloquial expressions to achieve this goal.

Hajj is one of the most glorious rituals annually held in Mecca. Studying this holy ritual introduces several cultures and myths to us. In spite of its religious roots, Hajj has been a time to enjoy material life for some Muslims.For some poets, it was a time to find a mistress among the women pilgrims and to compose some love sonnets. This article attempts to study the social roots of such a tendency among some Arab poets. This was rooted in the socio-cultural context of the pre-Islam era, also known as Ignorance era.However, it continued after the emergence of Islam as well. More specifically, the pre-Islam era and the Umavid-era up to sixth century (AH) are focused on. It seems that it has served different functions including being a religious pilgrim and a happy festival wherein artists performed their artistic abilities and skills. Among the poets, we can mention Umar bin Abi Rabie and Sharif Al-Razi. The love affairs near Kabba, the dating with the mistresses, and the prayers of the pilgrims with God are among the themes of these sonnets composed during Hajj.
