Abstract

Traditional characteristics in modern poetry are used to enrich the literary texts. These charecteristics, especialty those of Ahle Beit (the progeny of Prophet Mohammad, Pbuh) have new connotations and perspectives in the literary texts.The Iraqi poet, Yahya Al_Samavi, has strived to enjoy the religious charactors as an art device to express his ideas. Imam Hussein (Pbuh) is one these charactors appeared in the form of SYMBOL. IMAM HUSSAIN is the most prominent motif in Yahia Al_Samawy’s poem, and often SYMBOLizes devotion, dedication, persistence, justice, and saving people from the tyranny of rulers.Eploying analytic-descriptive method, we try to discuss and analysis the motif phenomenon in Yahia Al_Samawy’s poem. This article surveys three works of poet: “Hazehi khymati fa ein al wattan?”, “Neqosh ala jeza’nakhle”, and “Le maza ta'akharte dahran?”
