Abstract: 

This research is based on attachment theory and designed to investigate one of the possible variables in attachment development. Measures of Emotional Intelligence Questioner and Strange Situation Process were recorded. A hundred of mothers of one year old children were divided into two groups: securely attached and insecurely attached children who participated in the strange situation process and then answered to the Bar-On questioner.The findings revealed: 1) mother EQ of secure children was higher than the other group, 2) EQ total scale score, indicated highly significant difference between two groups, 3) on sub-scales, empathy, self-awareness, reality testing, happiness, and tolerating stress showed highest difference between two groups of mothers. Proposed hypothesis on flexibility sub-scale did not receive support. Built on the findings, mother ability to recognize child attachment needs, and her responsibility, empathy, and adjustment with these needs, together with her ability in understanding emotions make them more likely to tolerate stress which impacts forming and developing the child attachment system.

Abstract: 

This study examines the effectiveness of Group Positive Parenting Program (Group Triple P) on the level of stress among parents with children diagnosed as having Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Eight mothers of children (4-10 years old) with ADHD participated in this study. In order to control the impact of medication, those mothers whose children were on Ritalin for at least 6 months, were selected. Based on Sanders model, the Group Triple P was used to train the subjects in 8 sessions. Data was collected using Parenting stress Index (PSI) questionnaire through 6 stages including baseline( one week before sessions initiation), pretest (at the first session), middle test (after 4 educational session), posttest (after completion of program), follow up 1 (one month after termination) and follow up 2 (two months after termination). Time series design was applied to analyse the data. The results revealed a significant decrease in the level of parental stress in both child domain (F = 119/539, a = 01001) and parents domain (F = 33/672, a = 01008). The study concludes that Group Positive Parenting Program effectively reduces parental overall stress.

Abstract: 

The purpose of this research was to investigate the effectiveness of problem-solving training in reducing runaway tendency, stress level, increasing self-esteem & development of coping strategies in at risk girls.A sample of 760 high school students was selected from Tehran 2nd, 4th, 14th, 15-th, 16th and 19th educational districts. Based on the results of initial inventory for tendency to runaway, 54 students were chosen according to cut-off points and randomly assigned into control and experimental groups.Experimental group received 10 training sessions, and was compared with controls. Results showed that problem-solving training increased self-esteem in girls at risk of runaway and decreased their level of stress. However, reduction in runaway tendency did not reach to significant level.

Abstract: 

The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationships between dimensions of family communication patterns (i.e. conversation orientation and conformity orientation) and children's level of anxiety and depression. Family communication has been known as one of the most fundamental mechanism to understand psycho-social behaviors such as children anxiety and depression. In this study 326 (161 females) students were selected through multistage random cluster sampling method from second and third grade high school students of Shiraz, Iran. Participants completed Revised Family Communication Patters Instrument and the short form of Depression Anxiety Stress Scales. The results of a multiple regression analysis indicated that family conversation orientation was a significant predictor of children anxiety and depression. Family conformity predicted children anxiety significantly but not their depression

Abstract: 

The purpose of this study was to examine parents' attitude towards peer relationship among teenagers. The sample included 300 couples who were selected through- cluster sampling in two urban zones. Data was collected using girl and boys scale for peer relationship and analysed with one sample t-test and Manova analysis. The results showed that Isfahanian parents have negative attitude towards girls and boys who have boyfriend or girlfriend. Manova analysis, after control for demographic variables, showed that there are no significant differences between mothers and fathers on this kind of attitude. Religion significantly predicted attitude towards these relationships. Therefore, more religious parents were more likely to show negative attitudes towards these relationships.

Abstract: 

The increasing rate of divorce in Iranian society, necessitate research on factors impacting marital adjustment and satisfaction. Religious attitude is one of those factors that is shown to influence marital relationship, decision-making, commitment and parenting style. The current study investigates the relationship between religious attitude and marital adjustment among married students of The University of Tehran. A sample of 165 married students was selected using simple random sampling method. Measures of Dyadic Adjustment Scale (Spanier, 1976) and Religious Attitude Scale (Khodayarifard et al., 2005) were used. Findings indicated a positive correlation between religious attitude and marital adjustment. Religious attitude was highly correlated with Dyadic Satisfaction subscale of adjustment. Based on results, family therapists are recommended to consider the role of religious or spiritual attitude of couples as an important factor in management and solving the marital conflict. Consistency and inconsistency of the results are discussed.

Abstract: 

Due to technology development in recent decades, home schooling has been expanding as a substitute for grade schools in many countries. Families are encouraged to use home schooling for several reasons such as special cultural and religious values, not finding school programs matched with their children's needs, and uncertainties in quality of education in some schools.The most advantageous characteristic of home-schooling is the educational programming based on individual needs, interests, and abilities. In addition, the time period needed for graduation will depend on students' abilities, and the fact that pupils do not have to follow the pace of their peers in this regard. As such, students would enjoy such a education system without facing unwanted worries and anxiety.Although home schooling has some limitations, such as limited student social relationships and experiences, it, is useful in situations when family values or educational goals and objectives are greatly different from society. Children with chronic illnesses and severe disabilities also may take advantage of that. Homeschooling along with utilizing educational technologies such as participating in virtual classes and using assistive technology has proven to be an effective approach.
