Iran’s “Rural Economy” has played a crucial role in added value and domestic, gross production of the country by providing food requirements, exporting the extra products and producing job opportunities. The economic activities have faced many problems and challenges form the view point of agricultural economy’s principles and their influence on the national economy. The policies, planning, and executive activities have not been effective in the progress of the “Rural Economy” during the last few decades. Immigration to larger cities is among the problems caused by lack of job opportunities and enough income, as well as insufficient services in rural areas. The application of ITC, as a manifestation of the technological developments of the modern era, can not solve the entire fundamental problems in the rural areas; however, the application of such instruments as Electronic Government, Electronic Commerce, Electronic Learning, etc. can catalyze and facilitate the rural development and social welfare along with a perfect management. The present paper has aimed at the study of the effects of ITC on the strengthening the rural economy. The study proved to be effective due to the young population in those areas and the elimination of social and cultural impediments. ITC can also support the relationship between “Rural Economy” and “National Economy”. Among the benefits of ITC, one can refer to the rural economic capability, product marketing, and market study, market opportunities, supporting agricultural production, and reducing the risks. Therefore, it is a must to compile a comprehensive plan in rural regions.
