Abstract: 

Using a quantitative method named reference publication year spectroscopy (RPYS), this research tried to determine the historical roots of information behavior research. RPYS pave the way for determining the significant years and works in information behavior.Using scientometrics method, the initial data of this study have been extracted from the Web of Science. Using RPYS software, the revised data were analyzed and visualized in Excel.The distribution of cited references in information behavior revealed three peaks within 19th century. Moreover, our analysis identified 6 peaks between 1900 to 1969 in the field of information behavior, occurred respectively in 1948, 1954, 1957, 1960, 1965, and 1967.Based on the study findings, it seems that information behavior research has been shaped intellectually by fields such as psychology, quantitative and qualitative methodologies, etc. Moreover, it has been influenced by some theories and theoretical works.

Abstract: 

Using mixed method research the current study has analyzed Iranian researchers’ information searching behavior on the Web. Based on extracted concepts, the model of their information searching behavior was revealed. Forty-four participants, including academic staff from universities and research centers were recruited for this study selected by purposive sampling. Data were gathered from questionnaires including ten questions and semi-structured interview. Each participant’s memos were analyzed using grounded theory methods adapted from Strauss & Corbin (1998). Results showed that the main objectives of subjects were doing a research, writing a paper, studying, doing assignments, downloading files and acquiring public information in using Web. The most important ways of learning about the way of searching and retrieving information were trial and error and getting help from friends among the subjects.Information resources are identified by searching in information resources (e.g. search engines, references in papers, and search in online database …), communications facilities & tools (e.g. contact with colleagues, seminars & workshops, social networking ...), and information services (e.g. RSS, Alerting, and SDI). Also, Findings indicated that searching by search engines, reviewing references, searching in online databases, and contact with colleagues and studying last issue of the electronic journals were among the most important for searching. The most important strategies were using search engines and scientific tools such as Google Scholar. In addition, utilizing simple (Quick) search method was the most common among subjects. Using of topic, keywords, title of paper were most important elements for retrieving information. Analysis of interview showed that there were nine stages in researchers’ information search behavior: selection of topic, initiating search, formulating search query, information retrieval, access to information, information evaluation, information selection, information management, and stop/continue.These stages located in greater four categories: search initiation behaviors, formulating search queries, search navigational behaviors, and information processing behaviors. The study contributes to the theoretical basis of Web search research. It also raises various questions within the context of user studies.

Abstract: 

The purpose of this research is investigating the impact of skill-based capabilities on help-seeking behavior of users of digital libraries.The research was carried out using a mixed method. Using stratified purposive sampling, 39 MS and Ph.D. students of Ferdowsi University were selected as a sample. The tools used for collecting and analyzing data are questionnaire; think aloud protocol and Morae software.Results of path analysis showed that information literacy variable has a stronger impact on users’ help-seeking behavior than computer literacy variable. Results also confirmed that information and computer literacy have a reverse impact on frequency of help-seeking situations and help uses. But the information literacy variable has only a reverse impact on frequency of help requests with users in this research. The results confirmed the necessity of offering computer and information literacy instructions to digital library users especially when they encounter with problems in help-seeking situations. Some recommendations to upgrade digital libraries’ help facilities considering different users skill capabilities are offered in the end of the article.

Abstract: 

The purpose of the present study is to investigate the impact of image indexing on optimizing image retrieval via site operator. Using quasi-experimental method 100 images were uploaded 9 times with concept-based characteristics on iiproject.ir. Analysis consists of images which retrieved from the site operator. Number of images retrieved by the site operator is 151 images of 900 that are used in this study. The minimum number of retrieved images is related to “image titles” and the maximum ones to the criteria images which entitled with Q code. Chisquare statistics showed that the number of images retrieved in various codes was different. The best ranking is related to “image title” and the weakest one related to “image caption in Farsi”. Images average ranking retrieved in 9 groups were different.

Abstract: 

The Putting human commonsense knowledge into computers has always been a long standing dream of artificial intelligence (AI). The cost of several tens of millions of dollars and time have been covered so that the computers could know about “objects falling, not rising.”, “running is faster than walking”. The large database was built, automated and semi-automated methods were introduced and volunteers’ efforts were utilized to achieve this, but an automated, high-throughput and low-noise method for commonsense collection still remains as the holy grail of AI.The aim of this study was to build commonsense knowledge ontology using three approaches namely Hearst method, machine translation and using structured resources. Using three Persian corpuses and applying aforementioned methods, we could extract 7 different relations. Seventy thousand assertions have been extracted. Finally, average accuracy of Hearst, MT and structured resource were 75 per cent, 75 per cent and 100 per cent respectively.

Abstract: 

Semantic relationship among existing concepts in a text can be a solution for better and more precise representation of its content in addition to common indexing methods. Semantic networks are a pace in this way. In this research, we have attempted to extract the concepts related to the Allusions (Talmihat) in Hafez’s sonnets from six most frequently cited commentaries. The implied and literal meanings are extracted and separated, subsequently, they are categorized in order to create connection among and to draw their semantic networks. This effort improves retrieval in Hafez’s poetry based on audience needs. Quantitative and qualitative content analysis is employed here. Quantitative content analysis is used to determine the frequency of concepts. Qualitative content analysis is employed to obtain the meanings of verses and to determine the implied and verbal meanings, and explore relationship among concepts. Both have served to draw a semantic network. The concepts and their relationship between them were identified and two semantic networks were drawn. With this contrivance, the distance and proximity of the main node (Hafez) and from each other, and also the number of poems belonging to concept were determined. Thus, tangible understanding of allusions in the poems of Hafez becomes possible and systematic and, to some extent hierarchical relationship among them can be visualized. Facilitating retrieval is the most important using the semantic networks. Searching in these networks users can 1) find the poems they need, 2) view the position of the subject throughout networks, and 3) distinguish relationship among subjects in respect with other diagnoses.

Abstract: 

Reduplication is one of the productive morphological processes which have been studied inclusively in different languages and in the frame of different linguistic theories (Generative Grammar, Optimality Theory and Minimalist Program). Now with the emergence and growth of corpus linguistics and corpus based studies, morphological processes of this kind could be studied and conducted more accurately. Most of the morphological studies and morphologists have referred to reduplication process in their studies and it is considered as one of the universals of world’s languages which represent different semantic or syntactic properties in most of the languages (Stolz 2008). Reduplication has been studied in two kinds:Full and partial reduplication (Shaghaghi 1389, Haspelmath 2002, Bauer 2003). Full reduplication is to repeat a base known as reduplicated element. Full and partial reduplication is to add an element to the beginning or end of the one of the bases. In this paper we have studied the full reduplication in Persian so that we can get the dominant forms, meanings and the semantic properties of the reduplicated base. In order to achieve such results we needed to choose a perfect and acceptable corpus in the Persian language, so the authors chose Dehkhoda Medium Persian Dictionary. First of all the entire corpus was searched for the full reduplicated forms and then all of these forms were recorded along with their meanings and parts of speech. On the whole 299 reduplicated forms were extracted and categorized according to their meaning, form and the semantic properties of the reduplicated element. After investigating the extracted words, interesting results were seen. The results show that except the sounds which are among the common forms of the reduplicated structures, the dominant form in these structures are adverbs and in terms of the meaning, the dominant meaning is paucity and most of the structures are formed out of meaningful elements. Another point is that even the meaningless elements have been used in forming full reduplications and in some cases the produced meaning is irrelevant and new. The number of sounds is one third of the whole extracted forms, sounds which some of them are also meaningful. The results of this study could be helpful in teaching Persian language, building bilingual corpuses as well as facilitating Machine translation and lifting the problems on its way. A major use of the built corpus in this study, the corpus of full reduplications in Persian would be very useful in enhancing the current Persian net words.

Abstract: 

Presenting a model for evaluating governmental websites (Information, Interaction and Transaction), the article has compared Iranian governmental websites in two time periods (February 2006 and February and March 2011). The research has applied longitudinal study to observe the development process of Iran's electronic government. In the research, websites has been considered as representation of the electronic government for Iranian citizens in the cyberspace. The three-stage evolutionary model in the research was inspired from the UNESCO electronic government analysis. In the research model, electronic government has been defined as "applying information and communication technologies (ICTs) in the government and created changes in the government structure, nature and performance". Sixteen criteria and 61 sub-criteria have been used to evaluate 51 governmental websites in the first period and 41 websites in the second period.Based on the research results, the Iranian governmental websites, especially in the first evaluation, has been in the primary stage of the E-Gov. Few evidences have been observed to show a development toward stages beyond the information publication in the websites. Based on the quantitative data, after more than five years no dramatic changes have been observed in the Iran's electronic government. Then as before, few websites in the second evaluation has applied interactive capabilities of the ICTs.

Abstract: 

With the progress of modern sciences and the environment becoming more competitive in the technology era, knowledge management is being counted as one of the most important stable competitive advantages of technology oriented organizations. This matter is of higher importance in high technology organizations, especially those active in the field of information technology due to their unique identity. This way, knowledge management has been already shifted to one of the most important priorities of such organizations that in case of not identifying, applying, recording and creating that knowledge, the organization has to inevitably pay fortunes to revive the knowledge gone. The purpose of this research is presenting a comprehensive knowledge management implementation model in information technology industry. Therefore, the measures of the suggested research model were identified by studying identical researches and projects done in knowledge management and information technology sector and also through consultation with the experts. This way, a questionnaire was designed in two parts and distributed among experts in the organizations studied. The research data were analyzed through T Test and Binomial Test through fuzzy approach due to the constraints presented by the Lickert scale. The research findings demonstrate that the stages of knowledge management implementation model in information technology sector include knowledge evaluation, knowledge promotion, knowledge planning, knowledge culture, knowledge strategies, knowledge management processes, suitable knowledge infrastructures, knowledge organization and knowledge presentation. There also exist actions in each stage that affect successful implementation of the mentioned stages.

Abstract: 

The effect of technological and organizational factors on knowledge sharing in the National Library and Archives of I.R of Iran have been studied in the current study.It is considered as "applied" and "descriptive-survey" study based on its objects and data collection method accordingly. The research population consists of the educated librarians of the National Library and Archives including four sectors of collection building, organization, information and R&D.After collecting data via questionnaire, structural equations have been used to test the research hypothesis. The results indicated that the organizational climate, and structure, information and communication support have positive and meaningful effects on the knowledge sharing. The results gained on testing the secondary hypothesis indicated that centralization, manager’s attitude, information and communication usage, reward system, organizational learning have positive and meaningful effects on the knowledge sharing.

Abstract: 

Today's, Organizations are exposed with huge and diversity of information and information assets that are produced in different systems shuch as KMS, financial and accounting systems, official and industrial automation systems and so on and protection of these information is necessary.Cloud computing is a model for enabling ubiquitous, convenient, on demand network access to a shared pool of configurable computing resources that can be rapidly provisioned and released. several benefits of this model cuses that organization has a great trend to implementing Cloud computing.Maintaining and management of information security is the main challenges in developing and accepting of this model. In this paper, at first, according to "design science research methodology" and compatible with "design process at information systems research", a complete categorization of organizational assets, including 355 different types of information assets in 7 groups and 3 level, is presented to managers be able to plan corresponding security controls according to importance of each groups.Then, for directing of organization to architect it’s information security in cloud computing environment, appropriate methodology is presented.Presented cloud computing security architecture, resulted proposed methodology, and presented classification model according to Delphi method and expers comments discussed and verified.

Abstract: 

The excellence of a society relies on the importance of science in the community. In this century, by the emergence of information and communication technologies (ICT), the generation and sharing of science has been very fast. The e-science terminology has been developed to introduce such revolutions. Also the progress of the society depends directly on the efficient generation and sharing of the science. Therefore, in this study, for the first time in the scientific community of Iran, the e-science issue was investigated. Also, because of the novelty of the issue, after the introduction of e-science, a service oriented architecture is presented in this environment. The components of the proposed architecture are based on three significant facts: data, computations and communications. Each of these components, individually have different elements. These components were extracted according to features of the architectures of related researches. These components together, facilitate generation and sharing of the science and knowledge. Finally, to illustrate the proposed architecture and relations between components, a case study is surveyed.
