Abstract:

Introduction: Brain behavioral systems have major effect on personality and behavior. Behavioral Inhibitory (BIS) and Behavioral Activity (BAS) systems are related to avoidance and approach behavior, respectively. Hyperactivity and hypoactivity of these systems can lead to a broad domain of psychopathologies. This study was conducted to evaluate the relationships among brain behavioral systems, metacognitive beliefs, and thought control strategies in patients with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD).Method: In a correlational study that was conducted in 2011, convenience sampling was used for selecting 80 patients with OCD from two hospitals (22 Bahman and Ibn-e-Sina) in Mashhad, Iran. All subjects completed these questionnaires: Gray-Wilson Personality Questionnaire (GWPQ), Metacognition Questionnaire-30 (MCQ-30), Thought Control Questionnaire (TCQ), and Maudsely Obsessive Compulsive Inventory (MOCI). Data were analyzed using Pearson correlation and stepwise multiple regression. Results: There were significant relationships between need to control thoughts and self-punishment strategy with BIS (P<.01). Multiple regression analysis revealed significant role for cognitive self-consciousness, positive beliefs about worry, negative beliefs about uncontrollability and danger (P<.05); self-punishment and worry strategies (P<.001); and BIS (P<.001) in predicting OCD symptoms. Conclusion: There is correlation among behavioral systems, metacognitive beliefs, and thought control strategies in patients with OCD. Being Aware of metacognitive levels and using appropriate thought strategies can clear the relationship of brain behavioral systems with OCD.

Abstract:

Introduction: Interpersonal problems are difficulties that people experience in relation to others. Whatever we experience more problems in the area of interpersonal relations, the chance for better life will be lost. In this regard, the inventory of interpersonal problems (IIP-32) is designed to assess these Problems.Method: The aim of this study was to investigate the validity and reliability of IIP-32. This scale designed to assess interpersonal problems in adult people. The main problems contain: sociability, assertiveness, aggression, supportiveness, involvement, caring, openness and dependency. Samples consist of 384 female students of Shiraz University that were selected by available sampling method. After completing this scale by the sample group, exploratory factor analysis of the IIP was used for construct validity. Results: The results of this analysis led to extraction of 6 factors: Assertiveness and Sociability, Openness, Caring, Aggression, Supportiveness and Involvement and Dependency. The significant positive relationship between interpersonal problems and alexithymia indicated good convergent validity. Cronbach’s alpha (0.82) and half-split coefficients (0.82) showed that the reliability of this scale is suitable. Conclusion: Since the effective factors on interpersonal relationship are derived from culture and environment, the results are congruent with cultural structure and personal characteristics in this culture especially in Iranian women.

Abstract:

Introduction: The aim of current study was to examine the psychometric properties of the Student Loneliness feeling Scale (SLFS).Method: 376 students of Semnan University were selected by multistage cluster sampling method; respond to instruments of study (Felling of Loneliness Scale, Asher et al, and Depression Anxiety Stress Scale, DASS). Factor analysis, Cronbach’s alpha coefficient and Pearson correlation methods were used for Data analysis. Results: Factor analysis and convergent validity methods were used to determine the construct validity of the student Loneliness Feeling Scale (SLFS). Results from factor analysis showed the student Loneliness Feeling Scale (SLFS) measure two factors of affective loneliness and social loneliness. Also, results from convergent validity indicated a significant relationship between feeling of loneliness and depression (0.41), anxiety (0.30), and stress (0/39) (p£0.01). Reliability of the student Loneliness Feeling Scale (SLFS) by Cronbach’s alpha coefficient was 0/84 for scale, 0.82 for affective loneliness and 0.71 for social loneliness that all are satisfactory. Conclusion: Considering ease of administration, scoring and interpretation, little time to answer (3-5 minutes), individual and group practicability, practicability, appropriate validity and reliability come to the conclusion that student Loneliness Feeling Scale (SLFS) is a practical instrument for measurement of student feeling of loneliness.

Abstract:

Introduction: The high rate of comorbidity between Mood & Anxiety disorders can be because of common processes trandiagnostic. Therefore, the aim of the present study was to determine role of two processes [Cognitive Attentional Syndrome (CAS) & Cognitive Emotion Regulation Strategies (CERS)] in development and maintenance of Mood & Anxiety disorders.Method: Eighty nine patients (MDD=21; GAD=35; OCD=33) were selected from Taleghani & Baghiyatalah hospital by available sampling and (N=31) were evaluated by CAS-1 & CERQ questionnaires and compare with normal group. Then, data analyzed by ANOVA, Multivariate covariance & Bonferroni tests. Results: Results showed that patients with GAD, OCD & MDD obtained scores more than normal people in CAS & maladaptive Cognitive Emotion Regulation strategies (rumination, self-blaming, catastrophizing). This difference remained after considering comorbidity between these disorders. Conclusion: CAS & some Cognitive Emotion Strategies (rumination, catastrophizing, self-blaming) are transdiagnostic processes and play critical role in development and maintenance in different mood & anxiety disorders.
