Title

COGNITIVE ATTENTIONAL SYNDROME (CAS) & COGNITIVE EMOTION REGULATION STRATEGIES: TRANSDIAGNOSTIC PROCESSES OR DIAGNOSTIC BASED ON MOOD & ANXIETY DISORDERS

Pages

Abstract

Introduction: The high rate of comorbidity between Mood & ANXIETY DISORDERS can be because of common processes trandiagnostic. Therefore, the aim of the present study was to determine role of two processes [COGNITIVE ATTENTIONAL SYNDROME (CAS) & COGNITIVE EMOTION REGULATION STRATEGIES (CERS)] in development and maintenance of Mood & ANXIETY DISORDERS.Method: Eighty nine patients (MDD=21; GAD=35; OCD=33) were selected from Taleghani & Baghiyatalah hospital by available sampling and (N=31) were evaluated by CAS-1 & CERQ questionnaires and compare with normal group. Then, data analyzed by ANOVA, Multivariate covariance & Bonferroni tests. Results: Results showed that patients with GAD, OCD & MDD obtained scores more than normal people in CAS & maladaptive COGNITIVE EMOTION REGULATION STRATEGIES (rumination, self-blaming, catastrophizing). This difference remained after considering comorbidity between these disorders. Conclusion: CAS & some Cognitive Emotion Strategies (rumination, catastrophizing, self-blaming) are TRANSDIAGNOSTIC PROCESSES and play critical role in development and maintenance in different mood & ANXIETY DISORDERS.
