Abstract:

Identification of protein marker for Pistachio cultivars, as a valuable source of food is important. In this study, the protein patterns of embryo from four pistachio cultivars including Akbari, Ahmad Aghaei, Fandoghi and Kaleghouchi were analyzed using SDS-PAGE. The presence of protein bands about 90 and 45 killo dalton (kd) in protein pattern of embryonic axes in cultivars Kaleghouchi and Akbari respectively and the absence of protein bands with approximate molecular weight 30 and 20 kd in protein pattern of cotyledons in cultivars Kaleghouchi and Akbari respectively can be used as protein markers for these pistachio cultivars. On the other hand, the maximum expression level of bands 45 kd in protein pattern of cotyledons could be indicative of a protein marker for cultivar Ahmad Aghaei.

Abstract:

In the present study three populations of Baluchistan Gerbil (Gerbillus nanus) from different localities of Hormozgan Province (Geno Protected Area, Minab County and Qeshm Island) were compared according to morphometrical and ecological characters. 41 specimens of adult G. nanus were collected by live traps (Sherman traps, Havahart Traps and Locally made traps) from the above-mentioned regions. Although we conducted field studies from 0 height to 2300 meters in these regions, specimens of the G. nanus were caught only in height 700>. According to our field observations, this species is nocturnal. At first, five external, 15 cranial- dental characters were measured and then ratios of measured characters to head and body length were calculated. The normality of data was computed by Kolmogorov- Smironov test. Descriptive statistics were calculated for characters and ratios. The results showed that average of 12 characters from 20 characters in Geno specimens was greater than the other two. Also, the average of 18 ratios from 21 ratios in Qeshm specimens was greater than that the other two. But, the average of 14 characters in Qeshm specimens was lower than those two others. Significance was tested using one-way ANOVA followed by a Duncan test. The results showed that there were significant differences in six from 20 characters and 14 from 21 ratios in three regions.

Abstract:

Ranunculus L. is one of the largest genera in Ranunculaceae with 6oo species. Because of high variability and polymorphism among different individuals and populations of certain species, taxonomy of this genus has always been problematic. Previous research showed that characters of nectar scale was a suitable character in separate species. Main aim of present work was to revise these characters in annual species of Ranunculus. We studied herbalial specimens or fresh material. Different shapes of nectar were observed such as Horseshoe type in R. dolosus, R. sceleratus and in the other species, scale with different shapes. To find out the significant differences in the characters, we used Analysis of Variance (ANOVA test). This study showed that these characters possessed taxonomical value in annual Ranunculus.

Abstract:

In this investigation, morphological pollen characteristics of different populations of 5 species belonging to simple-leaved group of Astragalus sect. Incani DC. in Iran were studied. Results showed that all studied taxa formed two groups. In addition, chromosome number and meiotic behavior were studied in 3 populations belonging to two species of this group. All taxa were diploid and had the basic chromosome number of 2 n=2 x=16. Although the taxa represented regular meiosis, but some abnormalities such as laggard and fragmented chromosomes in anaphase/telophase I and II and diakinesis/methaphase I, cytomixis in anaphase/telophase I and II, multipolar cells in telophase II, binucleouli cells in prophase I and bridges in anaphase I and telophase II were obseved.

Abstract:

Barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) including cultivated (subsp. vulgare L.) and its wild relative (subsp. spontaneum C. Koch) is considered as the primary gene pool of Hordeum. Wild barley is the progenitor of cultivated barley which is a major crop in the world and economically is the most important species after bread wheat karyotypic studies were performed in 30 wild/cultivated populations of H. vulgare. To look for their relationships and diversity among populations. Based on the results of all the analyzed factors, the most symmetric karyotype was observed in one population belonging to subsp. spontaneum collected from the West and the most asymmetric one observed in a population belonging to subsp. vulgare from the Northwest region. Because the symmetric karyotypes are considered to be more primitive than asymmetric ones, the Western populations of wild barley with the most symmetric karyotype, can be considered as the oldest populations relating to the subsp. vulgare from other regions. Based on the results of this study the coefficient of variability of chromosome length in subsp. spontaneum was higher than that of the subsp. vulgare. Therefore, subsp. spontaneum is primitive and more diverse than subsp. vulgare that can be related to the adaptability of wild barley populations with the highly variable ecological conditions. The results of this study suggest that the karyotype symmetry analysis can be a useful tool to evaluate relationships and diversity of barley populations.

Abstract:

Saral with 1000 square kilometers is located in Kurdistan province, north-west of Sanandaj city. The highest elevation of the Saral area is Sheykh-Bayan Mountain with 2895 meters and the lowest is Doueiseh village with 1600 meters height above see level. The final results of the studies on floras showed 536 plant species which belonged to 285 genera and 59 families. The largest plant families, in terms of number of species was Papilionaceae and Asteraceae with 66 species and the largest genus, in terms of species was Astragalus L.from Papilionaceae family with 30 species. The largest life forms in the Saral area belonged to Hemicryptophytes with %49 of all species and the other forms included: Therophytes 27%, Bulbous Geophytes 6%, Phanaerophytes 5%, Tuberous Geophytes, Rhizomatose Geophytes and Chamaephytes each 4%.

Abstract:

Aeluropus as a perennial and rhizomatous grass with 5 species in the world is the only member of Aeluropodeae. Due to the presence of hybrids taxa and some subspecies, effective diagnostic features provided for their classification have been insufficient. Aeluropus identification has a lot of problems. In this project 23 accessions of Aeluropus from different localities of Iran have been studied using 26 qualitative and 22 quantitative morphological features. Some accessions with intermediate morphological characters were found between A.littoralis and A. lagopoides. Multivariate statistical analysis comprises Cluster analysis and Ordination was done by use of SPSS ver.9.1.Software. Species relationships were evaluated by use of qualitative and quantitative morphological features. Results of statistical analysis showed that there were clearly four different species in this genus in Iran and some intermediate accessions too. An identification key based on studied morphological diagnostic characters was provided for members of this genus in Iran.
