Aim: In accordance with the limited studies about effect of coenzyme Q10 ingestion on exercise-induced response of biological indices, this study was conducted to identify the effect of short-term coenzyme Q10 supplementation on serum total creatine kinase (CK), leukocytosis, thrombocytosis, and blood lipid profile in inactive men after one bout aerobic exercise.Material and Methods: Twenty healthy inactive men (aged 22-26 years, 13-16% body fat, and VO2max 38-42 ml/kg/min) in a randomized and double-blind design were allocated in two equal groups: supplement and placebo groups (intake 2.5 mg/kg/day Coenzyme Q10 or dextrose). After 14-days supplementation, all subjects were participated in an aerobic exercise with 75% VO2max on the treadmill for 30 minutes. Blood samples obtained before Q10 supplementation along with before and after the exercise protocol. Data were analysed using repeated measure ANOVA, Bonferroni and independent t test (P<0.05).Results: Results showed that short-term coenzymQ10 supplementation has no significant effect (P<0.05) on all of parameters (except TG and HDL). Aerobic exercise significantly increased CK, aggregation platelets and leukocytes number, whereas caused decreasing serum TG and LDL and triglycerides (P<0.05). Finally, platelet aggregation and leukocytosis in the supplement group were less than placebo group after aerobic exercise (P<0.05).Conclusion: The present results showed that 14-days coenzyme Q10 supplementation can improved basal blood lipid profile and reduced leukocytosis and thrombocytosis in inactive men induction aerobic exercises.

Aim: Study of gynoecium and female gametophye is important in botany and plant taxonomy. This research was done for studying the developmental stages of ovule in Ranunculus arvensis and comparing with other reported taxa in this family.Material and methods: Flowers and young buds were collected in different developmental stages, fixed in FAA70 and stored in 70% ethanol. Specimens were sliced using microtome after dehydration and embedding in the paraffin wax and stained. Developmental stages of ovule and embryo sac were studied and photographed using a light monitoring microscope. Results: Results showed that the ovule is anatropous, unitegumic with 4 or 5 layers and full-nucellus. Embryo sac development is followed monospori and polygonum type. Increasing of antipodal cells and in some cases increasing of synergids were observed. Also their nuclei were polyploid. Archeosporial cells were surrounded by callosic wall after their formation. Megaspore’s tetrads had linear and T-shaped ornamentations. Embryo sac was large with irregular shape and considerably grows longitudinal in its maturation step.Discussion: Results showed that although the overall pattern of ovule development in the studied species is similar to previous reports, but the tetrad arrangement, increasing of antipodal and synergid cells, and the presence of Hypostase, Postament and Nucellar Cap is the specific characteristic for this species.

Aim: In this study, gene transfer efficiency of human lentiviral vector (HIV) into rat bone marrow stromal cells was compared with that of the feline lentiviral vector (FIV).Material and Methods: To produce lentiviral vectors, a triple transfection with a shuttle vector, a backbone which carries either the GFP gene as a control or the NGF gene, and an envelope vector was performed using calcium-phosphate method in HEK-293T cell line. Supernatants of HEK-293T cell line containing the produced viruses were then exposed to bone marrow stromal cells (BMSCs) of the rat. Results: While bone marrow stromal cells infected with HIV-NGF showed a relatively high immunoreactivity of NGF, those infected with FIV-NGF did not express NGF. Furthermore, BMSCs infected with FIV-NGF viruses containing antibiotic resistant gene could not survive in the culture media containing the antibiotic. Conclusion: FIV based lentiviral vectors may not have a desirable efficacy for gene transfer into bone marrow stromal cells.

Aim: This study was to determine the effects of sprint training and vitamins E and C supplementation on LDL-ox and MDA levels and GPX activity.Material and Methods: 40 untrained healthy male students(age 19±1.9 , weight 73±4.4) divided into 4 groups: sprint training (SP) sprint training with vitamins E and C supplements (SP-SUP), vitamins E and C supplements (SUP) and control (CON) groups (n=10 each group). Blood samples were collected before exercise. The SP and SP-SUP groups participated 8 weeks sprint training period. At the same time, SUP and SP-SUP groups received vitamins E (400 U/day) and C (500 mg/day) six days per week. Blood samples were collected, before training period and after 72 hours from last session of training period. Multivariate analysis of covariance (MANCOVA) used to compare groups results. Results: There was significant difference between GPX activity. Also, there were differences between MDA levels within groups. The LDL-ox level changes were not significant. Conclusion: According to the results, anti-oxidative defense by enzymes such as GPX can increases by sprint training. Sprint training has selectional effect on by-products of oxidants and can improve anti-oxidative stress in rest.

Aim: The aim of the present study was to compare quantitative distribution and histological characteristics of Paneth cells of small intestine in sheep and goats.Material and Methods: Ten healthy adult sheep and 10 healthy adult goats (5 male and 5 female in both sexes) of the Lori Bakhtyari breed were selected from Shahrekord abattoir. Prepared tissue sections were analyzed at both light and electron microscopic levels. Results: Paneth cells were distributed in the crypts of Liberkuhn, theirs granules were larger and more numerous in deep and cells number showed an increase the proximal of the deudenum towards the distal part of the jujenum followed by a decrease from the proximal of the ileum towards its distal part. In all regions, Paneth cells were more numerous in goats than to sheep. In electron microscopic level, dense granules were found in the apical cytoplasm. Numerical density and surface microvilli of granules were greatest in the jejunum and lowest in duodenum and ileum. In all three regions of jejenum, area of cytoplasmic granules was significantly greater in sheep than in goats. Conclusion: The result showed that paneth cellular structure is almost similar between two species in light and electron microscope levels.

Aim: In this study, the effects of NaCl on seed germination leaf and stem anatomy and growth parameters were investigated in 10 and 60 days-old of Salsola arbuscula species.Material and Methods: The species seeds were cultivated in WA (0, 100, 200, 250, 300 mM NaCl), and MS (0, 100, 200, 250, 300, 350 mM NaCl) in vitro media. Then 10 and 60 days-old plants were used for studying seed germination and growth parameters. In addition to leaf anatomy of 60 days-old plants in MS (0, 100, 200, 250, 300, 350 mM NaCl) and after recovery in MS (300, 350, 400 mM NaCl), germination percentages were also investigated. Results: Results showed decline in germination percentage and ability of recovery in germination percentage. Also growth and anatomical parameters showed wide varieties in 10 and 60 days-old plants with increasing NaCl concentration. Conclusion: S .arbuscula is a halophytic plant that shows a better growth in low concentration of NaCl than control. Also the species protects its water content along the stress condition on the contrary glocophytes and has germinating ability. These characters help to survival of the species.

Aim: Movement of water across cellular membranes is facilitated by the presence of water channels named aquaporins. Plant plasma membrane intrinsic proteins (PIPs) fall into two groups, PIP1s and PIP2s that exhibit different water channel activities. So PIP1s are inactive, whereas PIP2s induce a marked increase in the membrane osmotic water permeability coefficient, Pf. This difference may be due to their subcellular localization. The aim of this research was to determine the subcellular localization of NtPIP1;1 and NtPIP2;1 in living tobacco cells.Material and methods: In this experimental study, NtPIPs cDNA sequences were fused to green fluorescent protein gene and expressed transiently in tobacco mesophyll protoplasts. Then, cellular localization of aquaporins was investigated using fluorescent microscope under blue excitation wavelength. Results: When expressed alone, NtPIP1;1 fusion protein was retained in the internal membrane structures, whereas NtPIP2;1 was found in membrane structure within the cell. To identify the internal structures containing NtPIP1;1 fusion proteins, NtPIP1;1-GFP was co-expressed in tobacco protoplasts with the YFP::HDEL protein, an ER marker. As shown, NtPIP1;1-GFP and YFP::HDEL colocalized. Conclusion: NtPIP2;1 was transported to plasma membrane, but NtPIP1 was retained in the ER of tobacco protoplasts so showed no water transport activity.

Aim: In this study, effects of Rhizobium on alfalfa plant growth under the SO2 pollution were evaluatedMaterial and methods: 35 days plants (non-inoculated and inoculated with native or standard Rhizobium) exposed to the different concentration of SO2 (0, 0.5, 1, 1.5 and 2ppm) for 6 consecutive days for 2 hours per day. Results: Results indicated significant decrease of Leaf area, stem length, root depth and fresh and dry weight of leaf, stem and root under high concentration of SO2. Number of leaves at all concentrations showed no significant change. Inoculation of alfalfa with Rhizobium significantly reduced the negative effects of high concentration of SO2. In this study, positive effects of native bacteria were impressive. Conclusion: The results indicate the harmful effects of high concentrations of SO2 pollution on growth of plants and the positive effects of bacterial inoculation on resistance to air SO2 pollution stress.
