Abstract: 

Background & Aims: The birth and hospitalization of a preterm infant in the intensive care unit is a stressful experience for parents. But on the other hand, supporting parents has been suggested as one of the main nursing roles. This study has been conducted to determine the relationship between nursing support and parents stress in mothers with premature infants in Neonatal Intensive Care Units.Material & Methods: In a descriptive correlative study, 153mothers with premature infants in Neonatal Intensive Care Units participated in convenient sampling method continuously. Data was collected through using demographic questionnaire, Miles' Nurse- Parent Support Tool and Parental Stress Scale. The Parental Stress Scale included light and sounds of NICU environment, the infant's appearance and behaviour and parents' role changes. The Nurse –Parent Support Tool included four dimensions: emotional support, information-communication support, self –esteem support, and qualitative support. Data was analysed by utilizing descriptive and analytic statistics including Pearson correlation coefficient and multivariate linear regression analysis in SPSS software.Results: Pearson correlation coefficient showed that among stressors, only factors related to light and sounds of NICU environment in all dimensions had direct relationship with the total score of received nursing support but it was poor (r=0.283 p<0.05) and it was not meaningful according to multivariate linear regression analysis.86% of mothers received low nursing support and only 13.1% received high nursing support and 60.8% of them reported a lot of parental stress.Conclusion: It seems that the amount of received nursing support by mothers to decrease parental stress was not enough so, planning to promote professional nursing support of mothers with premature infants in neonatal intensive care units is necessary.

Abstract: 

Background & Aims: The most common treatment for hemodialysis patients with end – stage kidney failure. Rapid changes in the physical and emotional state of patients undergoing hemodialysis puts them at risk. There for particular attention to the needs patients and their care to support deemed necessary.The aim of this study was to compare caring behaviors of nurses from hemodialysis patients and hemodialysis nurses perspectives Material & Methods: This study was a descriptive cross- sectional. This study was conducted among 131 dialysis patients and 65 nurses caring for them. Data were collected using quota sampling method via caring behaviors inventory. Data analysis was done by spss V20.Results: Perspectives of dialysis patients and dialysis nurses on caring behaviors of nurses had a mean ± SD of 4.67±0.46 versus 5.01±0.47. finding showed that there were significant differences between subscales assurance of human presence, positive connectedness, attentiveness the others experience and total scale of caring behaviors but finding showed that there were not not significant differences in subscale of professional knowledge and skill and respectful to the others.Conclusion: It is necessary for hemodialysis nurses in their care plan to moral and emotional needs of patients for example: assurance of human presence, positive connectedness, attentiveness the others experience pay special attention given. Caring program with higher quality and in accordance with the requirements formoulated. Note to all aspects of patient care is necessary for health promotion.

Abstract: 

Background & aims: Hospital infections are one of the problems of hospitals in all countries. Nurse as a member of the health care team plays a vital role in controlling and preventing these infections. In this study, the knowledge, attitude and practice of nurses of Shiraz University of Medical Sciences Hospitals has been investigated regarding infection control.Material & Methods: This descriptive-analytic study was conducted in Shiraz in 2017. The research population consisted of all nurses of educational hospitals of Shiraz University of Medical Sciences, among whom 340 from 10 hospitals were selected as sample size. Data were collected through a questionnaire and analyzed by t-test, ANOVA and Pearson correlation coefficient in SPSS23 software.Results: Knowledge score (104.71±12.15), attitude (62.79±8.27) and practice (141.64±14.24) of nurses about infection control were in good condition. There was a direct and significant correlation between knowledge, attitude and practice of nurses regarding infection control (p<0.05). There was a significant relationship between practice with marital status (P=0.001) and knowledge with nurses education level (P=0.000).Conclusion: Despite the fact that the knowledge, attitude and practice of nurses about infection control are in a good position, but continuing education courses are essential to increase awareness and strengthen positive attitudes in them and correct some wrong actions as a result of false beliefs for nurses and other medical personnel in hospitals.

Abstract: 

Background & Aim: Considering that the most important mission of medical schools is to train qualified and skilled physicians in the field of health services Whereas students with proper knowledge of the diagnosis of illness and its treatment, as well as the ability in the field of scientific and clinical skills, can properly conduct their studies after completing their education; Therefore, the accurate and proper planning in the field of clinical education in creating the capability and acquiring the necessary skills in the students of this field includes an important part of medical education. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of cardiopulmonary resuscitation simulation software on the knowledge and practice of medical students during emergency medicine.Materials & Methods: The method of this study was applied and its method was pretest-posttest with control group. Sampling method was random. The statistical population of this study is all medical students of emergency medicine internship of Urmia University of Medical Sciences. In this study, the first two groups, the students were selected as interns in July and August 2016 as the control group or the control group, and the next two groups, ie internship students in Shahrivar and October 2016, were selected as the experimental group. In this research, two theoretical tests including: 36 questions of the four choices that assessed the knowledge and ability to diagnose the disease, the students were assessed and the practical test included: 10 questions related to the practical test, which was provided by the checklist and asked students who will do each item.Result: The findings of this study showed that the mean of functional learning score and diagnostic ability in the experimental group was more than control and the effect of software was confirmed (P=0.148). However, there was no significant difference between students' knowledge scores between the control and experimental groups (P=0.001).Conclusion: Using the cardiopulmonary resuscitation simulator software can create an effective and effective learning environment by creating a safe and stressful environment as a complementary method to traditional education. Students can also simulate their ability to recognize and learn their practical skills by rehearsing and practicing emergency situations simulated by this method. But the use of simulations did not affect students' knowledge. But the use of simulations did not affect students' knowledge. Perhaps the reason for this was simply the practice of the software and the increase of knowledge in real and practical situations, with the explanations and tips of the professors.

Abstract: 

Background & Aim: Diabetes management requires an individual commitment to health behaviors aimed at reducing the risks Complications of the disease. Interactive motivational interview is a promising way to change the behavior of health. Therefore, the aim of this study was to determine the effect of motivational interview on laboratory findings in patients with type 2 diabetes.Materials & Methods: The present study was an experimental study with randomized sampling on 60 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus members who had conditions for participation in the study. It was executed in 1395. Data were collected using a demographic questionnaire by interviewing and taking blood samples. Each member of the intervention group received 5 sessions of 45-30 minutes under a motivational interview. Data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics.Results: Findings showed that independent t-test results showed before and After conducting a self-efficacy-based motivational interview, the mean values of blood glucose, cholesterol, triglycerides and Glycosylated hemoglobin was not significantly different between the two intervention and control groups (p<0.05).Conclusion: Intervention of self-efficacy-based motivational interviewing in 5 sessions did not show positive effect on type 2 diabetes. Therefore, it is recommended that this intervention take place in more time and sessions.

Abstract: 

Background & Aim: Consulting with a spiritual approach and the important role of nurses in psychological support of cancer patients has been considered by researchers. The aim of this study was to evaluate the influence of spiritual consultation in hope of cancer patients.Materials & Methods: This study was a clinical trial. The data collection tool was a two-part questionnaire in which Demographic characteristics were evaluated in the first part and in the second part, hope were evaluated by Herth Hope Index. The study population included all patients with cancer was admitted to Urmia city hospital. The number of samples was 76 cancer patients who were chosen and then randomly divided into two intervention and control groups. Patients in the control group received routine care hospitals, but patients in the intervention group received 10 sessions of spiritual counseling. To analyze the data, SPSS software, Descriptive statistics, Wilcoxon and Mann-Whitney test with p<0.05 were used.Results: Results showed HHI scores before and after treatment have no significant difference in control group patients with cancer (p>0.05), while in the intervention group are significantly different (p<0.05) and HHL Scores between the intervention and control groups before intervention was not significantly different (p>0.05). HHI Scores was significantly different in patients with cancer between the intervention and control groups after the intervention (p<0.05).Conclusion: Researches concluded that spiritual counseling is effective in hopes of cancer patients. In dealing with patients' spiritual needs, nurses should pay attention to the background and unique needs of patients.

Abstract: 

Background & Aims: Among the illnesses that appear to be affected by psychological factors are cardiovascular disease. The main objective of this study was to compare strategies for coping with stress, resilience and optimism in normal people and cardiac patients in Rasht city.Materials & Methods: The method of causal research is comparative and cross-sectional. The statistical population consisted of 944 people with heart disease referred to the specialist heart center of Dr.Heshmat Rasht City in 2016- 2017. The sample size is 200 people, including 100 cardiac patients and 100 normal individuals matched with the experimental group that were selected by available sampling.In this study, the Crisis Stress Questionnaire, Life Orientation Test (Optimism), and Conner and Davidson Suspension Questionnaire were used. Data were analyzed by multivariate analysis of variance and SPSS version 20 software.Results: Findings of the research showed that there is a significant difference between strategies for coping with stress and optimism in normal people and cardiac patients (F=104.55, F=5.94), (P<0.001).Also, the average resiliency scores in normal subjects (F=198, 1, 93) were not significantly different with cardiac patients (P<0.01). In addition, the average of optimism scores in normal people was greater (P=0.12) with F (198, 1) F than in cardiac patients (P<0.01).Conclusion: Therefore, using the creation of workshops and lifestyle changes in people at risk for heart disease, such as those with a history of heart disease in their first-class family, can provide increased reticence and optimism, as well as by training pathways coping with stress prevented cardiovascular disease.
