Abstract: 

This study aimed to evaluate the effect of different concentrations of Indolebutyric acid (IBA) on rooting of Myrtus Communis as well as the best hormonal treatment for rooting of these cuttings. The cuttings with 15 cm long were prepared in December, January and February. To determine the best hormonal treatment of rooting, IBA with concentrations of 200, 1000, 2000 and 4000 ppm and a control group was used and the experiment was accomplished by a factorial completely randomized design with 3 replications and 30 cuttings per treatment under periodic fog in a sand bed. Then, the result of the number of rooted cuttings, the length of the longest root, fresh and dry weight of root were analyzed by SPSS software and Duncan test. The results indicated that there was a significant difference at 1% level between cutting times for all root traits. In addition, the result showed that the highest number of rooted cuttings was achieved by 2000 ppm IBA in December. This hormone with concentration of 2000 ppm had the greatest impact on the length of the longest root and fresh and dry weight of root.

Abstract: 

Description of mangrove plants structure (zonation) is one of the sustainable utilization of ecological management tools in coastal plants formation. Accordingly, line transect (The length of each line plot was almost 100 meter) and circular plot random-systematic (10 plots sample per transect) were designed for determination of Avicannia marina (Harra) forest structure in Khamir coastal regions of Persian Gulf, Hormozgan Provice. In each line plot module, parameter of the stand such as density, height, percentage cover of stands, aerial roots height and number of aerial roots crown height, diameters of collar of the trees were measured in tow type of mangrove stands including: 1- high regeneration and 2- low regeneration. Investigation of homogeneity of mangrove structure was performed by T-test which showed significant differences in two stand types. Results showed that, although the Avicennia marina is the only tree species existing in this area, their forests have significant differences regarding to many parameters in two transects along sea to land, which altogether indicate heterogeneity of grey mangrove pure stands on basis of these parameters.

Abstract: 

Among environmental resources, forests and forest parks play a vital role in promoting human welfare. Different factors effect on tourism development in which security is one of the most important factor. The aim of this study was to investigate security sense in woody promenades and its effective factors. The method was discribing-surveying. Information was gathered in 200 statistical populations by questionnaire. Tools study validation was face validity and reliability of questions was approved using the coefficient alpha of Crohn Bach at 0.7 levels. The results showed that security is a basic criterion for selection of forest recreational areas. Some forested areas and away from others has a negative relationship with a sense of security, and the choice for recreation. Also, there is a positive correlation among increasing number of tourists, near the public area and accessed ways with a sense of security in these areas. The results of the Kruskal-Wallis test also showed there are significant relationship among age individuals, promenade with various tourism such as family, friends and the group tourist resorts with a sense of security in forested boulevard. At the end some solutions are presented to increase alignment the desires of tourists with forest recreation system.

Abstract: 

Reforestation in arid and semi-arid region of Iran started in 1959, regarding rehabilitation of desert region. These activities developed due to success of reforestation. Parallel to the development of planted seedlings in the areas, drought in the leaves and branches was appeared. This research aimed to identify the best pruning time in order to prevent regeneration and shooting and lead to an optimal density of Haloxylon persicum in Abardezh, Varamin, Tehran province. Random systematic method was used to select seven transects of 8700 m length with 250 m distance. Total numbers of 210 trees (30 trees on each transect) were selected. A period of seven months (treatment) starting from February 2011 to August 2011 were used for pruning. The height and diameter of all samples were measured before cutting. Then they were examined again after four months and the existence of new shoots were recorded. The result of Chi- squared test showed statistically significant difference in treatments at 95% confidence interval. The Dunnett test further showed no significant difference between treatment of July and August. They were categorized in one group; the remaining treatments of February, March, April, May and June were grouped in second category. Study results imply that the best time for pruning of H. persicum in study is July and August.

Abstract: 

This study was conducted to determine the absorbance ability of Cadmium (Cd) and lead (Pb) by the leaves and shoots of Platanus orientalis and Fraxinus rotundifolia in Karaj, Iran. In the selected site, 20 samples from one-year-old leaves and shoots as well as 20 soil samples were gathered and analyzed by ICP. The results indicated that no significant difference in absorbed contents of Cd and Pb in the leaves among the trees. However, accumulation of Cd in shoots of Fraxinus rotundifolia was significantly higher than Platanus orientalis. Also accumulation of Pb in shoots of Platanus orientalis was significantly higher than Fraxinus rotundifolia (p<0.05). The amount of Pb in the soil of the study area was significantly higher than Cd.

Abstract: 

Human activities, with increasing population of Tehran created a lot of environmental problems in this city. According to the functions of forests, afforestation can be adjusted to these problems. The objective of this research was to assess the ecological capability for afforestation in the Region of Hesarak, Tehran province. After identification of the ecological factors included the physical (physiography, topography, pedology etc.) and biological factors (vegetation area), the maps are prepared and then integrated using geographic information system (GIS). The result of integration was a layer of information unit, whose absolute limitations in each index were specified and then they were omitted from the assessment process using Boolean logic. The assessable area of the remaining district after omission was 843.8 Hectares which had a relative limitation and studied by multiple attribute decision making method. In the multiple criteria decision making method, the values were changed into qualitative values using bipolar interval scale. The weight of the criteria was designed through analytic hierarchy process method using pair compared matrix and was specified using skilled experts’ advices. At the last stage the final value was calculated using simple additive weighting method. Then the ecological capability of the area without limitation (843.8 he) was divided in 4 classes. The positioning of the forest development concluded from the four classes, by the multiple attribute decision making method was performed: The planning for the forest development was made for classes 1 and 2 with a total area of 489.17 Hectares.
