Introduction: In response to the community need, it is necessary nursing staff in their professional performance to use complementary therapies. The related barriers should be identified to provide appropriate strategies for integrating these therapies into the clinical nursing practice. So, this study was designed to assess clinical nurses' perceptions about the application barriers of the complementary therapies in clinical nursing practice. Methods: This qualitative content analysis study was done from June 2014 to July 2015 in Iran. Sampling was done purposively and ended after reaching data saturation. In-depth and Semi-structured interviews were done with fifteen nurses and two physicians who had rich experience. Concurrently with data collection, the data were analyzed via the conventional content analysis approach. Max QDA software was used to help data organizing and analyzing. Results: In relation to research objective, the study participants’ perceptions fell into five main categories of ‘insufficient knowledge of nurse’, ‘the barriers related to nurse's cultural and mental conditions’, ‘unsuitable conditions and facilities', ‘the obstacles related to non-nursing Personal ' and ‘inadequate support of non-nursing managers’ from which, the two main theme of ‘inadequate preparation of nurse' and ‘organizational limiters' were abstracted. Conclusion: Inadequate preparation of nurse and organizational limiters create problem for nurses and act as inhibitor of complementary therapies application in clinical practice. The awareness of these two themes attributes is useful for Authorities to designing guidelines related to integration of complementary therapies into nursing practice.

Introduction: Kidney Calculi (mainly made of calcium oxalate) is the third disease of urinary tract in which the side effects of surgery have caused particular attention to the use of plant products. The inhibition and disolution of calcium oxalate in solutions containing Alhaji maurorum have been studied in the present research. Methods: In this laboratory research, after taking the aqueous extract of 10 grams of Alhaji maurorum by 300 ml of distilled water at gentle heating, the formation and dissolution of calcium oxalate in samples with and without 50 percentage of extract was investigated by complexometric, conductometric and flame photometric methods. Results: The effect of the extract on the precipitated inhibition was studied and the results of conductometric titration curve method showed a significant difference (150.0 mmol) between the concentration of calcuim in the absence (1000.0 mmol) and presence of the extract (850.0 mmol). The effect of extract on the stone dissolution was also examined by flame photometry and complexometry methods and the results showed that the amount of estimated calcium, based on dissolution of calcium oxalate crystals in the presence of extract, was 3.5 mmol lower than that in the absence of extract. The results reported in all the experiments were the mean value of at least three repeated measurements (P=0.05).Conclusion: According to this study, Alhaji maurorum aqueous extract can prevent the formation of calcium oxalate crystals; however it does not have any significant effect on their dissolution.

Introduction: The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of short-term ginseng supplementation on laboratory muscular damage indices in young boxers after acute exhaustive aerobic exercise. Methods: In semi-experimental study, after completing consent forms, twenty young boxers were allocated in two placebo and Ginseng supplement groups randomly. Subjects in supplement group received 2gr ginseng capsules daily for one week, whiles other group consumed dextrose for the same amount. All subjects of both groups underwent an exhaustive aerobic exercise test which was performed on treadmill after seven days of supplementation. Venous blood samples were collected in four phases; baseline, after seven days and immediately prior to the exercise, immediately after and 24 h after exercise. The data was statistically analyzed by repeated measure ANOVA test in P>0.05 significantly. Results: The results of this study indicated that the LDH level had been increased immediately in both groups (supplement: 389.01 and placebo: 371.58 (U/L)), and in 24 hours (supplement: 397.46 and placebo: 371.58 (U/L)) after aerobic exercise (P>0.05). While ginseng consumption prevented the significant increase of the CK in supplement (255.37±52.10) group versus placebo (323.59±52.04) group at 24 hours after exercise (P=0.012).Conclusion: Based on the present findings, it seems that ginseng supplementation can modulate muscle cell damage after acute exhaustive aerobic exercise.

Introduction: Back pain is a common complaint both in developing and developed countries with a prevalence of 70-80% among the adults. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of three different exercises (hydrotherapy, McKenzie extension and Williams flexion exercises) on truncal muscle strength and pain intensity among females with chronic low back pain (LBP).Methods: The female participants (No=68, age: 21-27 years) with chronic LBP were selected based on available purposeful sampling and were randomly assigned into 4 groups: control and three experimental (Hydrotherapy, McKenzie and Williams) groups. The strength of truncal flexor and extensors and the pain intensity of participants were assessed with a pre-/post design. The participants undergone the exercises for 12 weeks, 3 sessions/week, 45 minutes each week. The data were analyzed using paired t-test, one way ANOVA and the post hoc Scheffe’s test.Result: The findings obtained from comparing the mean for the strength of truncal flexor and extensors in pre-/post-periods showed a significant difference (P=0.001), but the ratio of truncal flexor to extensors was significant only in Williams exercise group (P=0.001) and the significant relief of pain intensity in both hydrotherapy and Williams exercise groups. Conclusion: Considering the effectiveness of hydrotherapy and the flexor pattern of Williams exercises on pain intensity and the ratio of truncal flexor to extensors, performing such exercises are recommended to chronic low back pain patients.

Introduction: Green tea as a rich source of antioxidant compounds, anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer one, has been under so much attention nowadays. The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of an eight-week aerobic exercises and the consumption of green tea as a supplement, and the effects of the compound of them on insulin resistance markers, liver enzymes and cardiovascular risk factors in overweight women. Methods: In this clinical trial study, 40 volunteer subjects took part in the following research based on the agreement after signing a consent form. They were divided into four equal groups: green tea (T), aerobic training (A), aerobic training+green tea (A+T) and control groups (C). T group (3 times per day and after 2 hours of each meals, brewed 2 g green tea in 100 mil liter water and consumption).A group, participate in aerobic training included eight weeks (3 sessions per week, 45-60 minutes). Moreover, T+A group both actions were done with each other. To make intra and between groups comparison, paired sample t-test and one-way analysis of variance was used. Results: The levels of APOA and APOB had a significant increase and decrease only in A group respectively compared with the period before and after training. Alanine aminotransferase (ALT) (p=0.001) had a significant variation in A and A+T group, and aspartate aminotransferase (AST) (p=0.001) levels in T and A group. Insulin and insulin resistance had statistically a significant decrease (p=0.001) in A and A+T group. Conclusion: The combination of the eight-week aerobic exercises with the consumption of green tea has lead to reduce the insulin resistance markers, liver enzymes, and these factors can affect the reduction of the inflammation and improvement of heart and vessels.

Abstract:

Introduction: Portal Vein Thrombosis (PVT) is a rare and disabling condition. The most common underlying causes of PVT is pancreatitis, myeloproliferative disorders, liver carcinoma and lack of anticoagulant (thrombophilia). It can be observed in the patients who have undergone spleenectomy for any reason such as b-thalassemia major. Portal vein thrombosis treatment is usually conservative.Case Report: The case was a 70-year-old woman who came without a history or risk-factor but with abdominal pain and acute anorexia. Clinical examination, ultrasonography and CT scan diagnosed portal vein thrombosis and spleen vein thrombosis enhancing to mesenteric veins. Given the unresponsiveness of the case to the routine anti-coagulant treatments and not having appropriate criteria for surgical treatment, she was referred to the traditional medicine clinic. In initial examination, venous blockage was diagnosed and the patient underwent phlebotomy and traditional medicine pharmacotherapy. After three weeks, all the symptoms of the patient were relieved as depicted in ultrasonography and clinical examinations. Conclusion: Given the hazardous complications of portal vein thrombosis and lack of a definitive treatment protocol, it seems that the Iranian Traditional Medicine can be contributory to its treatment.

Abstract:

Introduction: In the recent years, the over use of pesticides is not only following by the health hazardous and environmental problems, but also leading to the resistance of the pests to pesticides. Therefore, it is necessary to find a proper, safe, durable and economic method in order to get rid of them thoroughly. Hence, the use of pest repellents which have been prepared from Juglans regia L is an Idean method in the prevention of several diseases. In the traditional medicine, different parts of the Juglans regia L have been used for the various purposes. It has been reported that the leaf extract of this plant is anti-inflammatory analgesic, antioxidant and with other biological properties. The present study aims to identify and use the domestic plants which are pest repellent and safe for man. Methods: In this experimental laboratory Research, the Juglans regia L leaves were collected from the natural growing regions of Sari Township (central, Asfyord district, the Galeh Kola Sofla, Kordkhayl Village). After drying, the leaf extraction was performed. The concentration of 50, 100 and 250mg/kg were prepared and spread on the skin of Albino Gunipig. After 30 minutes, the number of the Culex pipiens bites on the skin area was recorded and statistical analysis was performed.Result: The mean repelling effect comparison of the leaf extract on the Culex pipiens showed at high concentrations of leaf extracts of Juglans regia L, blood feeding of insects was less observed and in these various concentrations, significant difference was reported (P=0.001) the highest repelling property was correlated with the concentration of 250mg/kg of Juglans regia L extract and the repelling effect was73.36%.Conclusion: The metanolic Juglans regia L leaf extract effect on the c. pipiens, showed that the repelling effect of the extract goes up with the increase of the extract concentration. The efficacy percentage for the average concentration was49.78% in animal experiments. Therefore, it is recommended to use Juglans regia L leaf extract in the preparation of this product in order to prevent the culex pipiens bite.
