THE EFFECT OF ACUPRESSURE ON QUALITY OF SLEEP IN FEMALE STUDENTS WITH PREMENSTRUAL SYNDROME

Abstract

 Introduction: PREMENSTRUAL SYNDROME, is one of the most common disorders in women of reproductive age. This syndrome is a constellation of symptoms, psychological, and behaviors such as SLEEP disorders are included. ACUPRESSURE, an inexpensive and non-invasive method that can be useful in controlling the symptoms of this syndrome. The aim of this study the effect of ACUPRESSURE on SLEEP quality in female students with PREMENSTRUAL SYNDROME is done.Methods: This study is a controlled clinical trial on 140 patients from two groups of students Inclusion criteria were found. The data collection tool, Pittsburgh SLEEP Quality Index (PSQI) was. The experimental group was taught ACUPRESSURE and control group received no intervention. Data were analyzed using SPSS software.Results: The results showed that 29.5% of students have had PMS. Units of the subjects had poor SLEEP disorder, five were high-score. Two groups at baseline in terms of demographic characteristics and quality of SLEEP (P = 0.99) were homogeneous, but after the intervention, the experimental group, disturbed SLEEP due to the effect of group was significant (P<0.001). inform consent was obtained.Conclusion: The findings suggest that applying ACUPRESSURE on HT7 point as a non-pharmacological methods can be effective in improving SLEEP quality and nurses and midwives can use this simple, inexpensive and without side effects to be used as an adjunct with other treatments.
