Abstract: 

Background and objective: In the education of medical students, medical equipment has a major role and due to the lack of resources, medical equipment should be purchased to the needs of users and according to the economic and managerial components. This study was conducted to compare the purchase of Medical Equipment in Selected countries, then with using its results, effective dimensions and components in purchase management of Medical Equipment are extracted. Materials and method: This study was a comparative descriptive applied study. So, four stages were presented: description, interpretation, juxtaposition, and comparison. This study has compared USA, Canada, Australia, German, China, India and Turkey for purchase management of Medical Equipment. Ten clinical experts who participated to determine effective dimensions and components. Results: In examining the Selected countries in the field of purchase of Medical Equipment, the results indicate that these countries are based on the context, technology, price, after sales service, Negotiation, Observance of rules and standards are some components that were compatible. Conclusion: Considering to lack of resources and infinite needs of people, using scientific purchase management of medical equipment is a mandatory approach in health system. In this regard, effective dimensions in purchase management of medical equipment have been extracted. The results of this study will be used to design purchase management of medical equipment model.

Abstract: 

Background and objective: The internationalization of medical education is one of the aspects of Hexagonal Model of University Excellence. It is considered in the upstream documents as the responsibility of the higher education system for promotion scientific collaboration in regional and global levels while preserving national authority. Materials and method: In the present article, we attempt to address the various aspects of internationalization medical sciences by providing suggestions on the way forward according to key informant and related policy makers’ opinion. Results: The main features of effective internationalization are as follow; extensive supply of higher medical education capacities in national and international levels, monitor medical sciences international collaboration, and develop the country’ s scientific exchange network and joint educational programs with the worlds authentic universities. It is remarkable, Internationalization doesn’ t limit to invite foreign students and joint research projects. But, the leadership of journals, scientific associations and international institutions abroad, and the establishment of international branches could be bring out operative internationalization. Conclusion: Ideation and innovation, appropriate training for international presence, and scientific authority could be a critical step towards the realization of the effective medical education internationalization.

Abstract: 

Background and objective: Among the topics of humanities that are considered in the Holy Quran are topics related to the field of health and medical knowledge. The purpose of this study is to investigate the feasibility of teaching thematic interpretation of the Qur’ an with a health-oriented approach in medical universities and to provide a general framework for compiling the topics of this course. Materials and method: This applied research was conducted with a combined quantitative and qualitative approach in the academic year of 2019-2020 in Isfahan University of Medical Sciences. The statistical population included 24 lecturers on thematic interpretation of the Qur’ an at Isfahan University of Medical Sciences, specialists in the field of Islamic education and specialists in the field of health and familiar with the topics of the field of Islamic education. The study tool was a valid researcher-made questionnaire. Results: Participants (100%) considered the presentation of thematic interpretation of the Holy Quran with an approach to health issues not only possible but also useful and necessary. The majority of participants (75%) believed that the course topics could be presented with a health-oriented approach. 100% of the participants considered it possible to present this approach in all four dimensions of health. It is remarkable, Internationalization doesn’ t limit to invite foreign students and joint research projects. But, the leadership of journals, scientific associations and international institutions abroad, and the establishment of international branches could be bring out operative internationalization. Conclusion: Teaching the thematic interpretation course of the Holy Quran with a health-oriented approach in its four dimensions (spiritual, social, psychological and physical) is possible, useful and even necessary, and causes its dynamism and efficiency.

Abstract: 

Background and objective: After 40 years of the pandemic of AIDS, stigma associated with this disease is a major challenge to achieving the goal of ending AIDS as a public health threat and a main obstacle to physical, psychological and social health of these patients. Materials and method: The present study was a quasi-experimental study with a pre-test-post-test design with a control group that was performed as an intervention in the period from May to January in 2020 on 54 HIV/AIDS patients referred to Behavioral Consultation Center of Imam Khomeini Hospital. The samples of the study mode were selected by available sampling and randomly divided in three groups of 18 people based on CompassionFocused Therapy, mindfulness-based stress reduction therapy session and the control group. Each treatment was presented to two experimental groups for 10 sessions per week and the control group was placed on a waiting list. Patients’ stigma was assessed by the “ Berger scale stigma” in three stages: pre-test, post-test and follow-up. for data analysis, SPSS 23 software, descriptive statistics and inferential statistics (Univariate analysis of covariance, Bonferroni test and one-way analysis of variance) were used. Results: The results showed that both interventions based on Compassion-Focused Therapy and and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction were effective on the HIV/AIDS-associated stigma, as well as this effect was maintained until the follow-up stage. Changes in follow-up remained stable for three months after treatment. Conclusion: This study supports that Compassion-Focused Therapy and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction can be effective in decreasing HIV/AIDS-associated stigma. These findings can be effective in planning preventive interventions to promote mental and social health of HIV patients.

Abstract: 

Background and objective: Due to critical situation of Covid-19 Pandemic, a quick establishment of a virtual educational system was necessary. Virtual education is an active and intelligent educational system, in which one of the used tools is the Internet. Therefore, this study was conducted to investigate the views of professors of Tehran Islamic Azad University of Medical Sciences about the virtual educational system and its application during Covid-19 pandemic. Materials and method: This descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted by professors of Islamic Azad University of Medical Sciences in Tehran. In this study, a researcher-made questionnaire with face validity and qualitative content validity approved by the group of experts with quantitative content validity of Content Validity Ratio = 0. 71, Content Validity Index = 0. 91 and reliability of 0. 84 and Cronbach’ s alpha was used. Inclusion criteria were teaching at the Islamic Azad University of Medical Sciences in Tehran and having a personal page in the system. Exclusion criteria were incomplete completion of the questionnaire. Data evaluation was performed with SPSS 24. Results: A total of 348 professors entered the virtual system. Most of these professors were women )63. 6%( with a doctorate degree and assistant professorship(47. 7%). The results showed that in all cases, professors had a positive view toward the features of the virtual system. While 36% believed that using the virtual educational system would reduce the interaction. Most professors agreed on the infrastructure and implementation process of e-learning. Conclusion: The professors of Tehran Islamic Azad University of Medical Sciences had a positive opinion about the virtual educational system and its use in the university.

Abstract: 

The formulation of transformation programs in the medical sciences education and the experience of their implementation and evaluation showed that without a strategy based on the fundamental values which mentioned in the policies and programs of the scientific and educational system, and the translation of these values into the programs, attaining the goals will not be possible. The hexagonal model of university excellence was designed to explain this path. In this article, we intend to show that universities, and especially universities in the field of medical sciences, in order to achieve excellence, must institutionalize fundamental moral and spiritual values in their policies, programs, and operations, and this will not be possible unless keeping the Wisdom Based University as their strategic goal. We show the place of moral and spiritual values in the model and we argue that the design and implementation of strategies that extend the umbrella of moral and spiritual values to rationality, convergence, mission orientation, achieving scientific authority and social accountability can lead the medical education system towards a Wisdom Based University and achieve its ultimate aims.

Abstract: 

Background and objective: It is necessary to follow the example of different sectors for designing a model of intersectoral collaboration for implementing spatial planning policy of medical education in Iran. Therefore, the present study examines the various dimensions of industry-university collaboration in selected countries, as an example of intersectoral collaboration in higher medical education. Methods and Materials: In this research, 7 key terms were searched in valid scientific databases and databases in selected countries. After reviewing the documentation, unrelated items were deleted and the remaining content was reviewed. Results: The study investigated general conditions, responsible institutions and structure of medical education, and also industry-university collaboration in R&D projects in 4 countries, including the United States, Germany, the United Kingdom and Australia. The findings show that industry-university collaboration has grown in these countries and most of the R&D costs is provided by the industry sector. Conclusion: Designing long-term industry-university collaboration, different industries collaboration, defining interdisciplinary projects, more communication with society and monitoring real needs and designing supportive policies to encourage individuals and industries to invest in R&D must be considered for promoting industryuniversity collaboration in developing countries.

Abstract: 

Background and objective: The domestic market is relatively small for Knowledge-based products, therefore, every knowledge-based company for growth and development must enter international markets. While, the entry process is full of obstacles and challenges. The purpose of this study is to identify the barriers that health-related knowledge-based companies face when entering international markets. Methods and Materials: In this research, the review study method and the expert panel have been used. Data were analyzed using SPSS software (version 25), descriptive statistics, and non-parametric testing of Kruskal Wallis. Results: The findings showed the main internal barriers were lack of investment in research and development activities, lack of research cooperation between industry and academia, lack of participation in international exhibitions, the main external obstacles were the lack of access to the distribution channel, the existence of other competitors with famous brands and lack of knowledge of the laws and regulations of foreign countries. Conclusion: This study provides practical advice to managers of knowledge-based companies intending to enter international markets, including: investing in research and development activities, Research cooperation between industry and academia, attending prestigious domestic and foreign exhibitions, access to a suitable distribution channel, identifying foreign competitors with famous brands and being aware of the laws and regulations of foreign countries.
