Background & Aims: Clinical competence is one of the main indicators of performance in nursing. Researchers believe that to maintain nursing care standards, it is necessary to recognize the factors associated with the promotion of clinical competence. The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between moral intelligence and clinical competence of nursing students in the internship course. Materials & Methods: This descriptive correlational study was performed on 125 nursing students in an internship course in selected branches of Islamic Azad Universities of Isfahan province. Participants were selected by purposive sampling. Data collection was done by standard questionnaires of moral intelligence and clinical competency of nursing students. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Pearson’, s correlation test, and multivariate regression in SPSS software version 16. Results: Most of the participants (91. 2%, 114 subjects) were women and were in the age group of 22-25 years (62. 4%, 78 subjects). The mean total score of moral intelligence in the participants was 83. 46±, 12. 25 and the mean total score of their clinical competence was 193. 72±, 26. 36. Pearson correlation test showed a direct and significant relationship between moral intelligence and students' clinical competence (r =0/642, p<0/001). Also, based on the results of multivariate linear regression analysis, students' moral intelligence and grade point average can predict their clinical competency score. Conclusion: According to the research findings on the relationship between moral intelligence and clinical competence of nursing students, it seems necessary to pay attention to this dimension of intelligence in order to improve students' clinical competence and thus improve the quality of patient care.

Abstract:

Background & Aims: Due to the increase in the elderly population in the country, this group is facing increasing problems. Attention to the importance of promoting the health of the elderly and the need to pay attention to the components of health promotion, including resilience and self-worth, requires steps to be taken in this regard. The aim of this study was to determine the health-promoting behaviors of the elderly and the predictive role of resilience and self-worth among the elderly. Materials & Methods: This study is a descriptive-analytical cross-sectional study. 427 elderly people over 60 years of age who were referred to the health centers in Tabriz in 2019 participated in the study. Samples were entered into the study using multi-stage random cluster sampling method. Health promotion behaviors questionnaire (HPAOAM), standard self-assessment questionnaire (CSWS), and resilience questionnaire (CD-RISC) were used to collect data. Data analysis was performed using descriptive and inferential statistics including multivariate linear regression test in SPSS version 15. Results: The results showed that health promotion behaviors of the elderly had a statistically significant relationship with their self-esteem and resilience (p <0. 05). The variables of self-esteem and resilience predict about 3. 7% and 24. 1% of the variance of health promotion behaviors in the elderly, respectively. Conclusion: Considering the extent of health-promoting behaviors in the elderly, it is necessary to pay more attention to the factors affecting it. Also, considering the relationship between the healthpromoting behaviors of the elderly and the level of self-worth and resilience, health managers and policy makers must take appropriate measures to promote the level of self-worth and resilience in the elderly.

Abstract:

Background & Aims: Emotional eating behavior is a type of eating behavior without physiological need and is defined as eating in response to stress and negative emotions. The most well-known consequence of emotional eating is weight gain. Not enough information is available about other consequences of emotional eating. The aim of this study was to explain the lived experiences of obese young women about the consequences of emotional eating. Materials & Methods: This study was performed by qualitative method with hermeneutic phenomenological approach in 2020. Participants in this study were 17 young women living in Kermanshah or Karaj. These participants had emotional eating and a body mass index of 30 or higher. They were selected using purposive sampling method with maximum diversity approach. Data were collected through in-depth individual and face-to-face interviews and analyzed using the seven-step method of Dickelman et al. Results: In this study, the main theme was identified as "harmful consequences". This theme was obtained by combining 4 sub-themes called "harmful physical consequences", "undermining selfconfidence", "undermining weight control self-efficacy", and "overeating stigma”, . Conclusion: The consequences of emotional eating cause a decline in quality of life in physical, psychological, and social dimensions and make people prone to some physical illnesses and mental health disorders. This highlights the importance of therapeutic interventions in the management of emotional overeating.

Abstract:

Background & Aims: Fear of disease recurrence and decrease in the mental health of patients with breast cancer is one of the major concerns of patients that causes psychological distress and reduces the quality of life in patients. Therefore, determining factors that cause fear of recurrence in patients and reduce their well-being is crucial to improve their quality of life. Therefore, the present study aimed to investigate the predictive role of causal cancer attributions in the relationship between the fear of cancer recurrence and psychological well-being in women with breast cancer. Materials & Methods: The research method was correlational and the statistical population included all patients with breast cancer referred to specialized hospitals and clinics in Gorgan. They were selected and tested using the Vickberg Cancer Recurrence Fear Scale (2003), a researcher-made questionnaire of Causal Cancer Attributions and a short version of the Ryff Psychological Well-being Scale (1989). Then data were analyzed using correlation coefficient and multiple regression analysis. Results: The results showed a positive relationship between the subscales of personal factors, lifestyle, and environmental causal cancer attributions with fear of cancer recurrence and also there was a negative relationship between the subscales of spiritual/religious factors with fear of cancer recurrence. The results also showed that there is a negative relationship between the subscales of personal factors, lifestyle, and environmental with the psychological well-being of patients but there is a positive relationship between spiritual/religious factors subscale with patients' psychological well-being. Conclusion: According to the results of this study and the role of causal cancer attributions in fear of recurrence and psychological well-being, encouraging patients to change their lifestyle, physical activity, and strengthening spiritual and religious practices can help them to improve their quality of life.

Abstract:

Background & Aims: One of the selected methods of anesthesia in cesarean is spinal anesthesia. Low Back pain is the second most common complication after headache following spinal anesthesia. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of eight weeks of Pilates on pain and disability of women with low back pain following spinal anesthesia. Materials & Methods: In this quasi-experimental study, 40 women with mean age of 29. 4±, 4. 75 years had low back pain following spinal anesthesia after cesarean section, and they were also randomly divided into two groups of Pilates (8 weeks, 3 times a week, 45-60 minutes each session) and control (no regular exercise). Pain and disability were assessed using the Quebec and Oswestry questionnaires before and after the intervention, respectively. Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS 25 software using Shapiro-Wilk test and dependent t-test at 95% confidence level (p <0. 05). Results: There was no significant difference between the study groups with regard to age, body mass, parity, gestational age, and birth weight. Mean pain in pre-and post-test from 56. 13 to 39. 8(p=0. 013) and also disability from 40. 27 to 26. 13(p=0. 018) in Pilates training group compared to control group, pain from 54. 07 to 53. 23 and disability from 48. 7 to 49. 6 (p>0. 05), respectively. Conclusion: The results of this study showed that eight weeks of Pilates exercises can reduce pain and improve disability in women with low back pain following spinal anesthesia after cesarean section. It is recommended that midwives emphasize the importance of low back pain and recommend exercise therapy in prenatal counseling sessions.
