Objectives: This present research is conducted with the aim of reviewing the academic handbook: "family and population knowledge (Second Edition)" and the results could be used in book review. Method: The research is an applied-developmental, using descriptive-analytical method (documentary analysis). Results: The review of the points and shortcomings of the book, according to the dimensions of form, structure and content, the book has many strengths in terms of appearance and structural features. In terms of writing, its grammatical structure is acceptable, but in terms of the psychological and expressive nature of the text and the way of expression, it needs to be reconsidered. The book contains comprehensive, detailed, and detailed information on family and population knowledge and has been compiled with a traditional approach to education. The book is not designed with the help of specific educational patterns and its full teaching is not available in just one semester. Conclusion: The characteristics of a textbook, such as valuability, desirable organization, coherence, activeness, beautifulness, proper volume of content, proper flexibility and writing, require the collaboration of specialists from different disciplines. At the end, suggestions were made to correct existing shortcomings.
