Abstract: 

Objective To collect, store, and distribute the electronic health records of patients with amblyopia, it is important to determine the data elements. The present study aims to determine the minimum data set (MDS) for electronic health record of patients with amblyopia in Iran. Methods This is an applied study that was conducted in 2020. To identify data elements, a search was conducted in PubMed, Scopus, Google Scholar, Web of Science, Scientific Information Database (SID), Magiran and Barakat knowledge system and the records of patients with amblyopia were examined and consultation with ophthalmologists in Farabi Hospital was done. Then, a questionnaire with two sections of “, demographic information”,and “, suggested MDS for amblyopia”,was prepared based on a five-point Likert scale. After confirming the validity and reliability of the questionnaire, it was completed by 20 experts from the amblyopia clinic of Farabi Hospital who were selected using a convenience sampling method. Data analysis was done using descriptive statistics in SPSS software. The data elements with an agreement score >3 were selected for the MDS of amblyopia. Results Out of 98 proposed data elements, 92 were included in the MDS for amblyopia and were classified into 6 categories of demographic data, clinical data, type of strabismus, sensory tests, doctors’,prescriptions, and treatment plan. Conclusion It seems that the integration of information for patients with amblyopia in Iran and the improvement of their information management can be possible by determining the MDS for their electronic health record. By storing and retrieving standard electronic health information based on a minimum data set, it is possible to compare information, obtain high-quality information, and increase the effectiveness of medical services.

Abstract: 

Objective Not having a suitable planning model is one of the most important barriers to strategic planning in hospitals of Iran. This study aims to design a strategic planning model for hospitals affiliated to Islamic Azad University in Iran. Methods In this applied study, the review, comparative, quantitative and qualitative methods were used. First, different strategic planning models were collected and, based on them, a conceptual model was designed. Then, a researcher-made questionnaire was designed based on the different dimensions of the model and validated according to a panel of experts. The questionnaire was completed by 30 experts and the results were analyzed using one-way analysis of variance, and the model was finalized by applying the Delphi method. Results Regarding the steps of strategic planning, the factors “, formation of planning team”,(5±, 0), and “, creating the culture and scientific ability for planning in managers and employees”,(4. 87±, 0. 34) obtained the highest scores. Regarding the implementation steps of the plan, the factors “, receiving and implementing the approved plan”,(4. 87±, 0. 34) and “, monitoring of approved plans and their continuous evaluation”,(4. 87±, 0. 34) had the highest scores. Regarding the strategic planning team members, “, hospital manager”,(5±, 0), and “, one expert in planning”,(4. 87±, 0. 46) obtained the highest scores. Conclusion The use of the presented strategic planning model based on its implementation steps by a team with the suggested members can improve the stages of developing and implementing plans in hospitals affiliated to Islamic Azad University.

Abstract: 

Objective Mortality information is one of the largest sources of health information about the community health and is a basis for planning, managing and evaluating the health sector in all countries. This study aims to measure the level of compliance of the death certificate issued in Chamran Hospital in Ferdous, Iran with death coding rules of the 10th edition of international classification of diseases (ICD-10). Methods This is a descriptive cross-sectional study using a researcher-made checklist. Data analysis was done in SPSS software, version 16 using descriptive statistics. Results Out of 97 medical records, 9 were excluded due to lack of access to the death certificate. It was found out that 54. 6% of the records were coded incorrectly and 31. 1% had correct death coding. The most used ICD-10 rule for choosing the underlying cause of death was the general principle and the modifications rules A to F were the least used ones. Conclusion Only in 36. 1% of the medical records of death cases in Chamran Hospital, there was a compliance with death coding rules of ICD-10 which is not favorable. Hospital managers can improve the coding status of death certificates by holding death coding workshops and applying strict rules for correct registration of certificates.

Abstract: 

Objective Considering the impact of service quality in the hemodialysis departments on the survival rate and quality of life (QoL) of patients, it is important to monitor the performance of this department. In this regard, identifying key performance indicators (KPIs) can be useful. This study aims to determine the k KPIs in the dialysis management dashboard. Methods This is a descriptive cross-sectional study that was conducted in 2022. Participants were 346 nephrology specialists in Iran which were selected using the census method. The data collection tool was a researcher-made questionnaire with acceptable validity and reliability. Data were analyzed using SPSS software, version 16. Results A total of 40 KPIs were identified in three main categories: Structure (n=16), process (n=11), and outcome (n=13). The most important structure-related KPIs were: Underlying cause of kidney failure, comorbidity diseases, blood type, history of viral diseases, dry weight, and history of kidney transplantation. The most important process-related KPIs were: Type of filtration, type of vascular access, and duration of dialysis. The most important outcome-related KPIs were: Kt/V, urea reduction ratio, normalized protein catabolic rate, and fistula infection. Conclusion Accurate identification of KPIs and their use in continuous monitoring of dialysis department performance can help improve service quality and patient safety.

Abstract: 

Objective Video games are a type of modern technology that has become popular and has attracted the attention of researchers to assess its effects of users. This study aims to determine the prevalence of video game addiction and its effects among paramedical students of Hormozgan University of Medical Sciences in Iran. Methods In this descriptive-analytical study that was conducted in 2020, 120 paramedical students of Hormozgan University of Medical Sciences were selected by multi-stage sampling method. Data collection tool had two sections: Demographic information and video game addiction survey (effect of video games on physical/mental health and level of addiction). Data were analyzed in SPSS software, version 19 using chi-square test and Pearson correlation test. The significance level was set at 0. 05. Results The overall prevalence of video game addiction among students was 21. 5% (17. 2% with high addiction and 4. 3% with very high addiction). The results showed that video game addiction increased aggression and violent behaviors (X2=33. 04, P<0. 05), reduced social interactions (X2=43. 1, P<0. 05), and interfered with doing everyday tasks (X2=28. 8, P<0. 05). Conclusion Video game addiction by causing violent and aggressive behaviors, reducing interactions with others, and disrupting daily activities can lead to the isolation of students, physical and mental health problems, and academic failure.

Abstract: 

Objective Hemorrhoid disease is one of the most common anorectal diseases that affect millions of people around the world. Implementing a hemorrhoid management and prevention program using its data management system can be an effective step to improve the quality of care, control disease, and improve the society health. The present study aims to determine the minimum data set (MDS) for electronic health record of patients with hemorrhoid disease in Iran. Methods In this descriptive-analytical stud that was conducted in 2021, related papers and clinical records of patients with hemorrhoid disease in Iran were first studied. Then, the proposed MDS was validated using a researcher-made questionnaire based on a Likert scale with acceptable content validity and testretest reliability (r=0. 90), and by implementing the Delphi technique based on the opinions of 20 experts (internal medicine specialists and general practitioners in hospitals of Ferdous and Birjand cities and health information management specialists in Ferdous city). Sampling was not done due to the low number of participants. Finally, the findings were analyzed using descriptive statistics in SPSS software version 19. Results A total of 43 data elements were finally selected for implementing the Delphi technique. Of these, two data elements were removed in the first round,therefore, 39 data elements as well as two data elements with a score of 50-75% and three suggested data elements entered the second round of Delphi. Of these, 42 were approved in the second round. Conclusion Determining the MDS for electronic health record of patients with hemorrhoid disease can be an effective step towards integrating the information of these patients in Iran and can improve their information management.

Abstract: 

Objective The growth in the number of older people as the silent revolution is a phenomenon of the 21st century in developed and developing countries. Their care has become one of the serious health challenges around the world, especially for those with non-communicable diseases. This study was aims to investigate the health literacy and self-care status of the elderly in Iran. Methods In this review study, a search was conducted for the related studies in Iran published from 2005 to 2021 in Scopus, ScienceDirect, PubMed, Web of Science, DOAJ, Magiran, IranMedex and Scientific Information Database (SID). Selection methods for study: Initial search yielded 508 articles, of which 36 were finally selected after eliminating duplicates and using the PRISMA checklist. Results Of 36 articles, 23 assessed the self-care status in the elderly and 13 assessed the health literacy level of the elderly. Conclusion The self-care and health literacy of the elderly in Iran is at low level and are related to various factors. It is necessary to use methods with positive effect on their self-care and health literacy such as educational interventions.

Abstract: 

Objective With the spread of COVID-19, infodemic also spread. The World Health Organization (WHO) has indicated the need to pay attention to manage infodemic. The role of infodemic in vaccination can also be important. The present study aims to provide the science map of studies on COVID-19 infodemic. Methods This is an applied scientometric study. Data were extracted from the Web of Science and PubMed databases. The study population consists of all studies in the field of COVID-19 infodemic published from 2019 to 2022. To draw the science map, VOSviewer software was used. Results The results based on the Web of Science data showed that professional and public health categories were the most important categories and Loftus Ef was the author with the most scientific productions. The U. S, U. K, and Australia ranked first to third, while Iran ranked 33rd in the world producing scientific works in the field of COVID-19 infodemic. The science map obtained from the databases showed the co-occurrences of the government, vaccination and social media as the most important items that made up the maps. Conclusion To control the COVID-19 infodemic, there is a need for policy making in this field and the information published in social media and pay attention to the role of government in controlling it. The relationship between infodemics and vaccination rate is also important, which requires a correct policy by the Ministry of Health.
