Abstract:

Introduction: Breast cancer (BC) is the most common cancer diagnosed in women and one of the foremost factors behind the death of women worldwide. Hence, early diagnosis and intervention increase the probability of recovery and reduce the mortality rate. This study examined the effect of written exposure therapy and mindfulness-based stress reduction on managing pain and mental adjustment in women with breast cancer. Methods: Sixty females with breast cancer referred to the Shahid Rajaei Hospital in Babolsar, Iran were randomly assigned to one of the three WET (n = 20), MBSR (n = 20) or control (n = 20) groups. WET is a 5-session low-intensity exposure-based intervention for treating PTSD. MBSR is a systematic educational program during an 8-week period. The control group had no additional contact. Measures assessing managing pain and mental adjustment were administered at baseline, post-intervention, and 2-month follow-up. Results: Both the WET and MBSR groups achieved significant improvement in managing pain and mental adjustment with statistically significant differences between groups (P<0/001). However, no significant difference was reported between the effectiveness of the interventions used in the present study on pain management and adaptation to cancer in breast cancer patients (P>0/05). Conclusions: Both WET and MBSR appear to have beneficial effects in increasing pain management and psychological adjustment in breast cancer patients in Iran. Therefore, experts, researchers and therapists in this field can use these interventions as effective treatment options based on research evidence to improve the psychological functions of breast cancer patients along with their medical treatments and, accordingly, health indicators.

Abstract:

Introduction: The nursing profession is associated with difficult and stressful conditions and some psychological consequences. Also, one of the most important health potentials described in theoretical and research bases is the sense of coherence. Therefore, the present study was conducted with the aim of investigating the effect of perceived stress on psychological distress and psychological well-being with the mediating role of sense of coherence in nurses. Methods: The present study was a cross-sectional correlational study. The research community included all nurses working in hospitals and medical centers in Tehran. In this study, 200 people were selected by convenience sampling method. The research tools are: Cohen Perceived Stress Scale (1983), Kessler's psychological distress questionnaire (2003), Ryff Psychological well-being scale (1989), Antonovsky’, s Sence of Coherence Scale (1993). Pearson correlation, structural equation modeling and SPSS and AMOS version 23 software were used for data analysis. Results: The results of the findings show the fit of the desired model. In addition, the obtained results indicate a direct, positive and significant effect between perceived stress and psychological distress (T=5. 556,P<0. 001,β, =0. 385). Also, there is a direct, negative and significant effect between perceived stress and psychological well-being (T=3. 407,P<0. 001,β, =0. 173). In addition, the sense of coherence played a mediating role in the relationship between perceived stress and psychological distress and psychological well-being. Conclusions: The results of this study show the importance of the mediating role of sense of coherence in the relationship between perceived stress and psychological distress and psychological well-being. In other words, the sense of coherence acts as a health potential in a stressful work environment, therefore, it is necessary to design interventions based on this component, because it can probably significantly change a person's physical and psychological functions in a stressful work environment.

Abstract:

Introduction: Nursing managers suffer a lot of stress due to the nature of their job. Emotional intelligence is the most important trait in the management category for adaptability and better job performance in critical and stressful times. Emotional intelligence helps decisively to better adapt to the surrounding environment or create a suitable environment to achieve effective management in health care and can also effectively increase the psychological empowerment of nursing managers in the work environment. military hospital. Methods: This cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on 195 nursing managers in the selected military hospital in 1401. Data collection tools included demographic information questionnaire, Bradbury and Graves (2005) emotional intelligence questionnaire, and Spritzer and Mishra (1997) empowerment questionnaire. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS version 26 software using descriptive and analytical statistical tests (chi-square tests, t-test, ANOVA, analysis of variance and Pearson correlation). Results: 139 (%71. 3) nursing managers had average emotional intelligence, 56 (%28. 7) had high emotional intelligence, and none of the managers had low emotional intelligence. There was a positive and strong correlation between the emotional intelligence score of the participants in the research with psychological empowerment (r=0. 89) and a significant level (P<0. 05). Conclusions: The result of the study showed that emotional intelligence components positively affect the dimensions of psychological empowerment of military nursing managers. It is necessary to use the training strategy to improve emotional intelligence skills with an impact on the mental health of nursing managers of military hospitals in the face of crises and disasters and its effect on the psychological empowerment of nursing managers. Therefore, it is suggested that hospital managers increase the emotional intelligence of nursing managers in the treatment environment by holding training courses to lead to an increase in their psychological empowerment.

Abstract:

Introduction: People with health anxiety have misconceptions and incorrect interpretations of health and excessive sensitivity to their physical symptoms. Therefore, the current research was conducted with the aim of predicting health anxiety based on metacognitive beliefs, Alexithymia and experiential avoidance in nurses. Methods: The method of this study was descriptive-correlation. The research community consisted of all nurses in the emergency department of hospitals and medical centers in Kermanshah. In this study, 180 people were selected through convenience sampling and answered the Acceptance and Action Questionnaire, Toronto Alexithymia Scale, Short Form of Health Anxiety Inventory and Metacognitions Questionnaire. The collected data were analyzed using Pearson's correlation coefficient and multivariate regression analysis in SPSS-24 software. Results: The results showed that there was a positive and significant relationship between metacognitive beliefs, Alexithymia, and experiential avoidance with health anxiety in nurses (P<0. 01). The results of multivariate regression analysis also revealed that %76. 5 of the variance of nurses' health anxiety is explained by metacognitive beliefs, Alexithymia, and experiential avoidance. Conclusions: According to the results, it can be said that if people's evaluation of physical symptoms is problematic only when specific metacognitive beliefs are high, therapeutic interventions that target metacognitive beliefs instead of symptom evaluation may be more effective. Also, treatments based on acceptance and commitment and mentalization that lead to reduction of experiential avoidance and increase of mentalization capacity and subsequently reduction of health anxiety are suggested for nurses.
