Abstract:

Biomarkers play an essential role since they are good predictor factors for several diseases. Accordingly, we attempted to assess the level of Osteocalcin and Osteonectin in patients suffering from periodontitis in type 2 diabetes mellitus compared to healthy control. 120 male persons were included in the current study collected from the Albaladyat specialist center for dentistry in Iraq. Patients have been divided into three groups (30 patients with type2 Diabetic Mellitus, 30 patients with periodontitis, 30 patients with Diabetic Mellitus with periodontitis), and 30 healthy subjects in a control group. Clinical periodontal parameters were determined for all the studied groups. Additionally, serum was collected from each subject to determine Osteocalcin and Osteonectin levels by the ELISA method.  The results revealed a significant difference between study groups and controls regarding the levels of Osteonectin and Osteonectin at the P-value (0.003 and 0.0001). Moreover, the current study results showed a direct association between each of Osteonectin, Osteocalcin with clinical periodontitis parameters. Moreover, analysis by the ROC curve showed that both Osteonectin and Osteocalcin might represent the strongest markers for diagnosis of periodontitis in diabetic patients. Levels of the studied biomarkers suggest suitable biomarkers for early detection of the sixth diabetic complication (periodontitis).

Abstract:

Nano Putians are a series of organic molecules whose structural formulae resemble human forms. One of the most severe issues in the world today, which has been significant in many countries, is the issue of saving and efficient use of resources and energy in the face of existing constraints, so according to experts, the use of new technologies, including nanotechnology in this area can be a way to discuss economic savings. The technology of simultaneous generation of electricity and heat is one of the technologies that has been highly developed in the last few decades. The management of the urban energy system in the supply sector using this technology has several issues and complexities that have prevented its operation in large cities. This research study discusses the feasibility of using the technologies of simultaneous production of electricity and heat in the urban energy system. The developed model was simulated to maximize fuel energy use for five different scenes. There is about 24% in fuel costs and a total of 20% savings in the main scene compared to the current scene. The total heat energy produced in these units during the year will be about 3.75 million MWh.

Abstract:

Passerini reactions of an isocyanide, quinoline-4-carbaldehyde, and cinnamic acid derivatives in water proceed at room temperature giving 2-(alkyl/aryl amino)-2-oxo-1-(quinolin-4-yl)ethyl cinnamate derivatives in quantitative yield. The reactions are one-pot, and the products did not require any purification. This procedure offers significant advantages such as operational simplicity, mild reaction conditions, enhanced rates, cleaner reaction profiles, ease of isolation of products, and H2O as a medium, making it a valuable protocol for synthesizing these compounds.

Abstract:

In the present work, we establish that Ag-doped mesoporous bioactive glass (MBG) can be prepared by spray pyrolysis (SP) process. This process offers the feature of low processing times and continuous production. This work was prepared in two steps, the first step was to prepare the material (MBG), and the second step was to make a nano-layer of silver material on the surface of the (MBG) according to the time interval between two spray processes (2, 4, and 6 min). Using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive X-Ray analysis (EDX), UV-Vis spectroscopy, and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) were used to analyze the sample. According to the SEM and EDX Analysis result, the suitable formulation of the precursors can be used to control the distribution of the Ag dopant nanoparticles within MBGs. Also, UV-Vis shows that the absorption coefficient as a function of hυ (eV) and the extinction coefficient as a function of λ take the same behavior.

Abstract:

Few studies have been performed on the clinical manifestations of COVID-19 in children, and the clinical and laboratory features of children with COVID-19 are challenging, and insufficient evidence has been provided. Therefore, the current study focused on the most prevalent laboratory data in children with COVID-19. In the current study, articles published from January 2019 to December 2021 were reviewed in PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, and EBSCO databases. For data analysis, after extracting the data of studies that met the inclusion criteria, the effect size was used with a 95% confidence interval; the fixed or random effect model and the Mantel-Haenszel/ REML formula were calculated. Stata software version 16, a faster version of Stata, was used for statistical analysis. A total of 291 articles were found within the starting search, the full text of 52 article were reviewed. Finally, six studies were selected. Most prevalent laboratory findings were 39% decreased White blood cells (95% CI 8%-70%); 36% decreased Lymphocyte (95% CI 5%-67%); 56% increased IL-6 (95% CI 31%-82%); 66% increased Aspartate aminotransferase (95% CI 48%-83%); 49% increased Alanine aminotransferase (95% CI 29%-69%). Current meta-analysis showed in children with COVID-19, the interpretation of laboratory findings is very important and should be given more attention. Early detection of the disease in children can be essential in controlling the COVID19 epidemic, so early detection of important laboratory findings and their increase or decrease can be helpful in early diagnosis.

Abstract:

This study aimed to assess and compare the efficacy of epidural injection with acupuncture in patients with lumbar surgical failure syndrome referred to the Baqiyatallah clinic in 2021. Fifty patients with FBSS sent to the Baqiyatallah Hospital clinic for lumbar spinal cord surgery were randomly divided into two groups: Acupuncture was used on the first group. Patients in the second group received epidural injections. One, and three months after, the pain was evaluated and documented using visual analog scale criteria, and quality of life was assessed using the SF-36 questionnaire. One month after, the rate of pain reduction was more significant in the epidural injection group than before the intervention, and pain intensity dropped significantly more than in the acupuncture group (P=0.014). The epidural injection group had a higher rate of pain reduction three months after the intervention than one month after. The pain intensity was lower than the acupuncture group. However, the difference was insignificant (P=0.711). Before surgery, there was no significant difference in the two groups' quality of life (P=0.607). 3 months after surgery, there was no significant difference between patients' quality in the two groups (P=0.157). Patients' quality of life 3 months after the intervention was statistically significant (P=0.001) in the epidural and acupuncture groups compared to before the intervention (P=0.001). Patients with FBSS benefit from epidural injections and acupuncture for pain reduction and improved quality of life.
