Abstract:

Introduction: Exercise dependence can have negative consequences on athletes' physical and psychological health. As psychological factors are known to play an important role in the development of addictive behaviors, this study aims to investigate the predictive role of negative perfectionism and body image concerns in explaining exercise dependence in athletes. Methods: This study was a descriptive cross-sectional correlation conducted on Iranian athletes and members of sports groups in social networks. The research sample comprised one hundred ninety-five individuals selected through the available sampling method. The data collection tool used in this study was a questionnaire that included questions related to dependence on exercise, perfectionism, and body image concerns. The statistical tests used in this study were the Pearson correlation coefficient and multiple regressions, evaluated through SPSS21 software. Results: According to the results of the Pearson correlation coefficient, there exists a significant and positive relationship between negative perfectionism, body image concern, and exercise dependence in athletes (p <0. 01). Furthermore, based on the regression analysis, negative perfectionism and body image concern can account for seven-tenths percent of the variance in exercise dependence among athletes. Conclusions: Based on the findings of this study, it is evident that psychological factors like perfectionism and body image concerns play a vital role in determining the sports behaviors of athletes. As a result, sports psychologists can utilize appropriate training and psychological interventions to manage and regulate the sports behaviors of athletes, based on the results of this research.

Abstract:

Introduction: In the current Iranian society situation, few people do not believe in changing family values. Social values are the primary core of social action and the foundation of social order. For this reason, the present study seeks to answer this question. What is the direction of change in family values in the Marginalized neighborhoods of Tehran. Methods: This study was a qualitative approach study, using the grounded theory method with Strauss and Corbin version. The samples were selected according to purposive and theoretical sampling from people aged eighteen years and above in the marginalized neighborhoods. To matche and compare with other regions, region nineteen and four were selected. Based on the theoretical saturation criteria, thirty in-depth interviews were conducted. Semi-structured interviews were used to collect data. Results: According to the grounded theory method, gender attitudes toward women's employment, inequality of job opportunities, gender attitudes toward gender, equality between men and women, and decision-making power in the family categories were constructed. Conclusions: Based on Ronald Inglehart's theory of value change, the findings showed that the direction of value change of the marginalized neighborhoods, like the neighborhoods located in the context of urban society (non-marginalized), tended towards post-a material gender values. In other words, it can be said that the direction of gender attitudes has moved away from traditional views and is moving towards modernity and postmodernity.

Abstract:

Introduction: Studies show that parentless or neglectful parenting children are more exposed to psychological damage and problems, and this issue clarifies the need to address this area. The aim of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of the play-based resilience training package on children's self-control under the guardianship of the welfare organization. Methods: This study was a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest and a control group. The statistical population included children aged five to seven years under the guardianship of Tehran province welfare in 2019. As the first step, five centers were selected by purposeful method, then thirty children with research criteria were randomly assigned to the experimental and control groups, fifteen children in each. The instruments used in this study included the self-control questionnaire by Kendall Wilcox1979, the child and youth resilience measure (CYRM) by Ungar & Liebenber2009 and the play-based resilience training package. After the pre-test for both groups, the resilience training package was performed in fourteen sessions for the experimental group. The post-test was performed again for both the experimental and control groups. The data were analyzed by descriptive statistics(univariate and multivariate analysis of covariance) by SPSS26. Results: The results of multivariate analysis of covariance showed that in all components of self-control (self-control, impulsivity, and self-control-impulsivity) and Total self-control, changes in the scores of the experimental group were significant. (P<0.05)  Conclusions: The results of this study indicate that the play-based resilience training package has been effective in increasing the self-control of children under welfare guardianship.

Abstract:

Introduction: People with physical-motor disabilities face different emotions due to special conditions during life. This research aimed to study the effectiveness of emotional schema therapy on distress tolerance and emotional regulation in physical-motor disabled people. Methods: The method of the present study was quasi-experimental with pre-test and post-test design and follow-up with the control group. The statistical population included all physically disabled people aged twenty to fifty years old who had a rehabilitation record in 2019 in the welfare of Mashhad, where fifteen people were selected and randomly assigned for each experimental and control group by available sampling method based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. Both groups completed the distress tolerance and emotion regulation questionnaire as the pre-test. The experimental group was trained in eleven sessions of sixty minutes according to the protocol of emotional schema therapy (Leahy 2015), while the control group did not receive any intervention. The data were analyzed using SPSS25 by repeated measures analysis of variance. Results: The results showed a significant difference between the scores of distress tolerance and emotional regulation in the experimental group in comparsion to control in the post-test stage. (P<0. 05) Therefore emotional schema therapy was effective on distress tolerance and emotional regulation variables. Conclusions: The results indicate that emotional schema therapy could be effective in increasing distress tolerance and improving emotional regulation.

Abstract:

Introduction: In today's world, bullying has taken on a new form known as cyberbullying. Similar to traditional bullying, cyberbullying can have severe consequences on its victims. Therefore, with the widespread availability of technology, especially among adolescents, there is a greater need than ever to investigate the causes of victimization and the reasons behind this type of bullying. The primary objectives of this study were to examine the correlation between emotional-social competence and bullying in cyberspace and to investigate the relationship between emotional-social competence and cyber victimization. Methods: This study was both cross-sectional and correlational in nature. The statistical population included all male and female high school students in their first and second years of the academic year 1398-1399 throughout the country. The sampling was done using the snowball method. To gather data, the Antoniadou Cyber Bullying Experience Questionnaire (CBEVQ) and Zhou and J Emotional-Social Competence Questionnaire (SCEQ) were used. The data was analyzed using SPSS25 software along with the Spearman, Mann-Whitney U, and Kruskal-Wallis statistical tests. Results: In this research, a total of one-thousand, one-hundred-seven students participated, and fifty-one and nine-tenths percent of them were boys. The participants had a mean age of fifteen and sixty-six hundredths, and the largest group was second-year high school students, accounting for sixty-two and six-tenths of the total. The study found that there is a significant relationship between emotional and social competence and bullying and victimization in cyberspace. Among the five components of emotional-social competence, four of them, including self-awareness, self-management, relationship management, and responsible decision-making, showed a significant relationship with bullying and victimization in cyberspace. However, the component of social awareness did not show a significant relationship. The study also found that there was no difference based on gender in the discussion of bullying and victimization. Conclusions: Due to the rise in the use of communication tools during the COVID-19 pandemic, adolescents are now at a higher risk of injuries than ever before, due to technological advancements. The findings of this research align with previous studies and indicate that emotional-social competence is a critical factor in cyberbullying behavior and cyber victimization among high school students in Iran.
