VAḤ Š I BĀ FQI, Kamā l-al-Din (or Š ams-al-Din Moḥ ammad), is a wellknown Persian poet of the Safavid period. According to Dr Nazir Ahmed, unlike many other poets of that period, Vahshi never lived in Hindoostan. Dr Nazir Ahmad (1915-2008), one of the prominent Persian scholar in Hindoostan, wrote a scholarly article on Vahshi in which he has brought some new poitns about Vahshi's life: early life, death, his hometown, Takhalus, his travels to Bafq, Kashan, Qazvin, Iraq and other cities. Dr Nazir Ahmad examined rare manuscripts of Persian Tazkaras ( Khazine Ganj Ilahi; Khulasatul Ahar va Zubdatul Afkar; Safine Khuhgu) and Vashi's Divan.
