Abstract:

Introduction: Pain is a mental experience, and because it has cognitive and emotional components, it can be influenced by personality and psychological variables that play a role in creating or worsening of its primary cause. This study aimed to predict the chronic muscular pain in terms of personality type, hardiness, and perceived social support. Methods: This research was a descriptive correlational study. The sample included female married patients (N=121) with chronic muscular pain referred to the following medical centers: Sina Hospital, Imam Khomeini Clinical Center, Mobasher Clinical Center, Mahdieh Clinical Center, and certain healthcare centers privately owned by the physicians in the city of Hamedan, Iran. Patients’ diagnosis had been made by a neuro surgeon, and for this study, subjects were selected using convenience sampling method. To collect the data, chronic pain assessment questionnaire, type C and type D personality questionnaires, and hardiness scale questionnaire were used. The data were analyzed using a multivariate liner regression analysis. Results: Regression results showed that hardiness (Beta =-0. 231, p = 0. 011) and perceived social support (Beta =-0. 194, p = 0. 031) play a negative and significant role in predicting chronic muscle pain in married women. With regard to our findings, there was a significant relationship between female married patients’ hardiness, personality traits of types C and D as well as perceived social support and chronic muscular pain (p<0. 05). Conclusion: According to the results of this study, it can be concluded that the severity of chronic muscle pain can be predicted based on hardiness and social support. Therefore, in addition to pharmacological treatments to reduce the pain, psychological factors and support in patients with chronic muscular pain should be taken into consideration.

Abstract:

Introduction: Hospitalization is one of the outcomes of multiple sclerosis (MS) that can have different effects on the quality of life of patients. Therefore, the aim of the present study was to evaluate the consequences of hospitalization on physical and mental dimensions of quality of life in patients with MS. Methods: In a cross-sectional study, 162 patients with MS (in three groups: non-hospitalization, 1-2 times of hospitalization, and ≥ 3 times of hospitalization) were selected by consecutive sampling and they were examined using clinical and demographic variables inventory and the Health Survey questionnaire (SF-36). The data were analyzed by multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA), and post hoc test of Fisher least significant difference (LSD). Results: The analyses showed that the effects of hospitalization were significant in vitality, mental health, and mental component summary (P < 0. 05). Following the difference between means in hospitalization groups showed that patients with ≥ 3 times of hospitalization in all identified significant variables have lower mean scores (P < 0. 05). In the meantime, significant differences were not observed between different groups of hospitalization in terms of physical dimensions of quality of life (P > 0. 05). Conclusions: The consequences of hospitalization in MS patients leads to reduced psychological dimensions of quality of life in such patients and its effects in patients with high hospitalization rate is significant/noticeable.

Abstract:

Introduction: One of the main causes of urinary infections is the use of urinary catheters. Over time, the overuse of chemical antibiotics has made urinary bacteria become resistant to chemical antibiotic treatments. Therefore, the major challenge in hospitals is preventing urinary infection and finding a suitable replacement for chemical antibiotics. In recent years, researchers have been studying the use of herbal medicines to replace antibiotics. Methods: In this study, green tea and ziziphora herbal extracts have been used as antibacterial agents for making silicone coated latex Foley catheters antibacterial and antibiofilm agents with inoculation. Various tests such as disc diffusion, broth penetration, contact angle, FE-SEM, AFM, ATR-FTIR, and elasticity were performed. Results: After inoculation, disc diffusion test was performed on Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli, urinary infection agents, and the antibacterial property of the silicone coated latex catheters was verified. In the penetration broth test, the herbal antibacterial catheters could eliminate the bacteria after 21 days (P˂ 0. 0001). The contact angle test showed an increase in the hydrophilic property of the modified catheter (p˂ 0. 0002). The mechanical test suggests an increase in Young module. SEM test indicates a decrease in bacteria adherence to the catheter surface. AFM test shows an increase in the roughness of the surface after impregnation. The presence of extracts in catheters was verified by ATR-FTIR. Conclusion: It can be said from the obtained results that medicinal herbs can be appropriate agents for the inoculation of urinary catheters and the reduction of urinary infections in hospitals. In fact, modified catheters with herbal extracts could eliminate all bacteria. In addition, herbal extracts could be a good replacement for chemical antibiotics. Finally, herbal extracts could increase surface hydrophilicity, prevent bacteria adherence, and they have antibiofilm properties.

Abstract:

Introduction: Green human resource management (HRM) is responsible for increasing awareness and informing and establishing interaction between an organization’ s staff regarding the environment and environmental factors. In addition, with the use of green policies, green HRM leads to social responsibility among the staff, in a way that they are guided toward adhering to their responsibilities to the environment. This study aimed to design and explain a green HRM model with an emphasis to social responsibilities. Methods: This is an applied research in terms of goal and a mixed method study (qualitative and quantitative) and descriptive-survey in terms of nature and methodology. The statistical population included two groups of experts familiarized with green HRM (with an uncertain number); they scattered across the country and were entered into the study via selective sampling to design and explain the research model as the first group. The second group included 291 headquarters staff of Shiraz University of Medical Sciences selected by simple sampling based on the Cochran’ s formula. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire of green HRM based on Jabbour’ s scale (2010) and the Carroll social responsibility questionnaire (1991). Moreover, in-person interviews were conducted to design the model. To analyse the data, statistical methods and tests were used in two descriptive and inferential levels such as data homogeneity test, effect size index, variance inflation index, and structural equation modelling test; SPSS and PLS software was used for this study. Results: In this study, there was a positive, significant relationship between green HRM and social responsibility. In addition, the value of this impact was estimated at 0. 230, 0. 371, 0. 211, and 0. 306 based on the regression coefficient in the standard state. Moreover, the evaluation of the fit indices was indicative of the relatively suitable fit for the research data and the conceptual model. Conclusion: According to the results of the study, environmental questions must be included in the recruitment interviews to assess job applicants’ knowledge level in this area. It is also suggested that the recruitment exams are better to be carried out electronically.
