Abstract:

Introduction: Nurses face too much stressors as work-rest cycle problems, overload responsibility, lack of vacation time and painful experiences of patients; therefore, resiliency can help them to appropriate and efficient cope with these stressors. But there is no brief and practical scale to assess psychological resiliency among nurses in Iran. So, the aim of the present study was to evaluate the psychometric properties of the multidimensional measure of nurses’ personal resilience. Methods: In this methodological study, 120 nurses from Amol’ s hospitals were studied using a convenience sampling method who filled the multidimensional measure of nurses’ personal resilience. The multidimensional measure of nurses’ personal resilience is composed of 40 items. The psychometric properties were examined through the Nominal validity, Content Validity, Concurrent validity, Construct validity. The data was analyzed by SPSS 22. Results: Nomianl and content validity were approved by five psychologists. The KMO index and Bartlett's test of sphericity indicated that correlation matrices were suitable for factor analysis. Factor analysis with Principal Component Analysis extracted one factor with 55. 21% total variance. Internal consistency was confirmed by a Cronbach’ s alpha of 0. 86 and there was no change in number of components or dimensions and questions. Conclusion: This study showed that the multidimensional measure of nurses’ personal resilience had appropriate psychometric properties and is a valid and reliable screening index to measure psychological resiliency of nurses. This index could facilitate the assessing of Well-Being in brief and practical way among nurses.

Introduction: Emergency medical staff who are at the forefront of health care delivery face many occupational stresses that have psychological, physical, behavioral, and organizational consequences for them, including musculoskeletal disorders. The purpose of this study was to investigate the correlation between musculoskeletal injuries and stress load tolerance among medical emergency staffs in Hamedan province. Methods: In this descriptive-correlational study, conducted in 2019, 76 (40%) of urban and 114 (60%) of employees of road bases were selected from among emergency medical staff of Hamadan, Iran. Data were collected using Nordic Musculoskeletal Injury Questionnaire and Occupational Stress Questionnaire. Data were analyzed by SPSS 23 using descriptive statistics, t-test and Spearman correlation coefficient. Results: The mean age of the participants was 34. 05 (± 8. 11) years and the work experience was 123. 42 (± 84. 22) months. The majority (77%) were married, 57. 3% had undergraduate degrees and 46. 9% had formal employment. Employee stress burden was 503. 3 (161. 23%) out of 1050 points. Persons who had musculoskeletal disorder due to their job had reported more stress than others; hoever, this difference was not significant (P<0. 05). People with musculoskeletal disorders in neck reported higher stress load (P<0. 05) than others which was not significant. There was a significant relationship between type of employment, work experience, and type of exercise with musculoskeletal disorders (P<0. 05). Conclusion: There was a significant relationship only between stress and musculoskeletal damage. By modifying and eliminating stressors in emergency personnel’ s routines, by holding workshops on ergonomic principles as well as stress reduction principles, it is possible to reduce the physical disorders of emergency personnel.

Abstract:

Introduction: Moral distress is one of the most complex ethical problems for nurses working in Intensive Care Units. Desired job performance of the nurse guarantees the quality of health care provided to patients and is an important factor in accelerating the process of treatment and recovery of patients. This study was conducted to investigate the predictive factors of job performance in nurses' moral distress. Methods: This is a descriptive cross-sectional study, in which 256 nurses working in ICU wards of private and public hospitals of Qazvin province (from January to March 2019) were selected through convenience sampling method. Demographic characteristics questionnaire, Six Dimension Scale of Nursing Performance and Modified Moral Distress Scale-Revised were used for data collection. Statistical analysis was performed using linear regression model test in SPSS 22. Results: The results showed that the mean score of nurses' moral distress was 171. 37± 55. 63. In multivariate linear regression model, only educational dimension of job performance in both frequency (β =-26. 37, P=0. 001) and quality (β =-76. 15, P=0. 025) correlated significantly with moral distress. Conclusion: Based on the results of the present study, educational dimension of job performance is a predictive factor for moral distress. Therefore, steps can be taken to reduce moral distress in clinical settings, such as the use of nurses with specialized training in Intensive Care Units, paying special attention to teaching ethical issues in nursing centers and holding retraining courses for nurses.

Abstract:

Introduction: Depression is the most common psychological consequences of spinal cord injury. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of eye movement desensitization and reprocess (EMDR) on depression in patients with spinal cord injury. Methods: In this clinical trial study, 40 patients with Spinal cord injury (SCI) who were treated at Hadith Rehabilitation Center of Qazvin in 2018-2019 were selected by random sampling and randomly divided into two groups. The methods of eye movements and reprocessing were performed for experimental group in five sessions of 90 minutes. The research instruments included demographic characteristics form and Beck’ s depression inventories that were completed by patients in both groups. Depression was measured before, one, three and six months after the intervention. Data were analyzed using SPSS 23, by descriptive and inferential statistics proportional to the data. The data was analyzed with, Chi-square, independent t-test, Paired t-test and ANOVA. Results: The results of this study showed that before intervention the mean depression score was not significantly different between the control and experimental groups (31. 4 ± 10. 4), (30. 5 ± 6. 3 )(P=0. 7, t=-0. 3). After intervention, the experimental group had a significant increase in the mean score of depression compared with the control group (22. 3± 7. 7), (30. 3± 6. 6) (P<0. 001, t=-4. 1 ). The mean depression score in the experimental group showed statistically significant differences three and six months after the intervention (P=0. 001, t=-4. 05). Conclusion: Considering that EMDR, as a non-pharmacological intervention, reduced depression in patients with spinal cord injury.
