Abstract:

Background: Increases in vital signs are common problems in burn patients. It is useful to decrease these changes within the normal limit in cardiac patients and older adults. This study aimed to investigate the effect of inhalation aromatherapy with Damask Rose essential oil on vital signs after dressing changes in burn patients. Methods: A randomized clinical trial was conducted with 50 patients in burn unit of Beast Teaching Hospital in Hamadan from September to October, 2013. Patients were selected by convenience sampling and randomly assigned to experimental or control groups. The vital signs of the patients were recorded thirty minutes before entering the dressing change room, where patients in the experimental group inhaled five drops of Damask Rose essential oil 40% as aromatherapy and patients in the control group inhaled five drops of distilled water as placebo. After changing the dressin, the vital signs were recorded 15 and 30 minutes after exiting the dressing change room. Data were analyzed in SPSS/16 using statistical tests. Results: Although aromatherapy with Damask Rose essence significantly decreases increased pulse rates after dressing changes (p>0.05), it does not decrease systolic and diastolic blood pressure and respiratory rate. Conclusion: Inhalation aromatherapy with Damask Rose can decrease increased pulse rates due to dressing changes, and can be used in critical situations as a safe complementary treatment.

Abstract:

Background: Preterm labor is considered one of the major health concerns and seconds congenital anomalies for infant morbidity and mortality. So far, various methods have been used to predict preterm labor; one of these methods is to measure mother’s serum alpha-fetoprotein level. This study was conducted to investigate the relationship between maternal serum alpha- fetoprotein level in weeks 11 to 13 of pregnancy and preterm labor. Methods: This nested case- control study was conducted with 105 pregnant women during their 11-13 gestation week presenting to Fatemieh Hospital in Hamedan for their routine prenatal care from 2013 to 2014. Maternal serum alpha-fetoprotein level was measured by Biomerieux standard kits through Vidas system in laboratory. Pregnancy outcomes were followed up after delivery and recorded in a checklist. The data were entered into SPSS/21 software and were analyzed using the t-tes, Mann- Whitney U test and Chi- square test. P-value less than 0.05 was considered significant. Results: Maternal serum alpha- fetoprotein level at 11-13 weeks was significantly higher in pregnant women experiencing preterm labor than that in women with term pregnancy (P<0.001).Conclusion: Maternal serum alpha-fetoprotein level in 11-13 weeks of pregnancy can help predict preterm labor in pregnant women.

Data was collected by a questionnaire with two parts. The first part included demographics and the second part included the Pittsburgh Sleep Index. Statistical analysis was conducted by t- tes, ANOVA, chi-square, Fisher's exact test and linear regression in SPSS/11.5 software. Results: The mean age of participants was 63.55±2.23. 72% of retired teachers had a good sleep quality. There was significant difference between the two genders in terms of sleep disturbing factors (p=0.013). t- test showed men have better sleep quality than women (p=0.01). Significant differences were observed in terms of sleep quality in two genders (p=0.01) and having or not having daily naps (p=0.01). The results showed that sleep quality in older and retired teachers is better than the general population. Conclusion: Approximately one-third of elderly and retired teachers had inappropriate sleep quality. Abstract:

Background: Given the prevalence and outcomes of gestational depression and anxiety and the important role of midwives in psychological support of pregnant women ,alternative treatments like spiritual counseling can play an important role. This study investigated the effect of spiritual counseling on depression, anxiety and stress in pregnant women. Methods: This randomized clinical trial recruited 80 pregnant women in antenatal preparation courses for physiologic delivery in Fatimah Hospital, Hamadan (2015). Participants were selected based on inclusion criteria and clinical interviews, and were randomly assigned to intervention (n=40) and control (n=40) groups. Data were collected through a demographic questionnaire and DASS-21. Both groups were followed immediately after and two months after the intervention. Data were analyzed by descriptive and analytical statistic in SPSS/16.Results: Before the intervention, no significant difference was observed in the mean score of depression، anxiety, stress and spiritual intelligence between intervention and control groups (p>0.05). After the intervention and two months later, the results showed a significant difference between the two groups on depression, and stress, so the intervention was effective (p<0.05). The mean score of depression, anxiety and stress in the intervention group did not significantly change over time (p>0.05).Conclusion: Spiritual counseling can control depression, anxiety and stress in pregnant women; therefore, it is recommended that spiritual counseling be used as a complementary, effective and non-invasive intervention to control psychological problems of pregnant women.

After 12 session's dialysis, RBC ,HGB and HCT of both groups checked again and data were analyzed with software SPSS16 and t-test, paired t- test and covariance. Results: The mean difference of RBC, HCT and HGB before intervention, in two groups with test (t-test) was not significant (p>0.05), The mean difference in blood parameters RBC, HCT and HGB after the intervention in two groups was not significant in patients undergoing hemodialysis (p>0.05), HCT and RBC blood parameters in the experimental group after the intervention is not changed and the test (t- test) was not significant (p>0.05), But the mean difference HGB in the experimental group after the intervention was significant (p=0.03). Parameters in the control group before and after the intervention, was not change, and tests (t- test) was not significant (p>0.05).Conclusion: According to the results of physical training relatively improve HGB, and is effective to prevention anemia in hemodialysis patients, it is recommended that the results of research in education, treatment and health promotion could be used in hemodialysis patients.
