Abstract

Ammodendron persicum (locally called Divdal) is a less- known WOODy species of the Zirkooh-Qhaen in the east of Iran. In this study, for the first time WOOD of this desert species was studied from different physical and anatomical aspects. Three selected logs were used for the study of WOOD properties. Results showed that Ammodendron WOOD is a ring-porous hardwood and all parts of its cross section have long rays that are visible with naked eye. In the study of PHYSICAL PROPERTIES of Ammodendron WOOD, the apparent and the dry DENSITY were determined as 1.125 and 0.92 g/cm3, respectively that classify this WOOD in the very dense category.
