Title

PHYSICOCHEMICAL CONDITIONS OF THE INTRUSION EMPLACEMENT: USING AMPHIBOLE AND FELDSPAR CHEMISTRY

Pages

  3-16

Abstract

The Upper Eocene Kuh-e Dom intrusion is composed of two phases including acidic and intermediate- basic units. This intrusion and its host rocks are intruded by several acidic and basic dikes. Mafic microgranular enclaves are common in the acidic rocks. The intrusion rocks, dikes and enclaves with various values are composed of quartz, K-feldspar, plagioclase, biotite, hornblende, pyroxene, titanite and titanomagnetite. The AMPHIBOLEs are calcic (Na+K) A ≥0.5 and its composition varies from magnesiohornblende to actinolite. While, the composition of basic dikes with (Na+K) A<0.5 and AlVI<Fe3+are inclined to magnesiohastingsite. The plagioclase composition in the acidic rocks is varied between albite and labradorite, in the intermediate- basic from andesine to labradorite and the enclaves from oligoclase to labradorite respectivley. The plagioclase compositions in the intermediate dikes are ranging from andesine to labradorite, while, the basic dikes have more anorthite. The mineral chemistry of AMPHIBOLE indicates that this intrusion is calcalkaline and belongs to orogenic area. Based on AMPHIBOLE and plagioclase chemistry, the average formation temperature of the acidic rocks, intermediate-basic rocks, enclave and intermediate and basic dikes is estimated 724, 808, 750, 736 and 1000 oC respectively. The average formation pressure for these rocks is evaluated 1.4, 1.5, 1.48, 0.82 and 3.1 kbar respectively. The OXYGEN FUGACITY in all acidic, intermediate-basic rocks, enclave and intermediate and basic dikes are in the upper Ni-NiO buffer and indicate -13.8, -13.4, -12.9, -12.7 and -10.4 values respectively. The high OXYGEN FUGACITY in the studied rocks is dcue to calc-alkaline nature and SUBDUCTION setting.
