Abstract

This article examines the connection between Iranian culture and the culture of Ashura, focusing on the Mourning practices of different ethnic groups in Iran. Ashura, as one of the most significant religious events in Islamic history, has had a profound impact on the culture and identity of Iranians. This research employs library studies, field observations, and interviews with experts to analyze the similarities and differences in Ashura ceremonies among various Iranian ethnic groups. The findings of this study indicate that despite cultural and climatic differences, common elements such as chest-beating, chain-beating, and Mourning songs are observed in all Ashura ceremonies. These commonalities are noteworthy as symbols of national unity and cohesion in Iran. Additionally, Ashura ceremonies, as a cultural tool, have strengthened shared values and identity among Iranians and acted as a cultural bridge between different ethnic groups.
