Abstract

The present paper aims at investigating Foucalt's genealogical critique of Iranian education during Safavid, Qajar and Pahlavi period. For this purpose education in iran is compared and analyzied in three areas of objectives, content, educational approaches with Foucalt's genealogical critique which is a historical and analytical approach. Finding revealed that educational objectives in the abovemenioned eras were based on power of the government, on contents withideological features, on reproducing government policies, on spreading repeated issues, the authority of the teachers, punishment of students and on memoriying subjects without paying attention to human and exalted values. in short, the consequences of the historical analysis of iran education regarding Foucault, s genealogical critique view can be summeried as: devastating creativity in individuals, changing individuals to the subject of knowledge, lacking courage on critical arguments, accepting dogmatic ideologies, having no effective change in ideas.
