Title

Management Methods of Imam Ali (a) in Response to Social Challenges: A Case Study on Religious Deviations and Cronyism

Pages

  71-99

Abstract

Throughout history, human societies have constantly faced various individual and social challenges. The role of government officials in each era, through their choice of management strategies, has had a significant impact on the stability or instability of societal security and welfare. This study aims to analyze the management methods of Imam Ali (a) in confronting two major social challenges: religious deviations and cronyism. As a comprehensive model of Islamic leadership, Imam Ali (a) employed various methods in dealing with deviations. He initially sought to reform the deviants through dialogue and logical reasoning, and, if ineffective, would resort to more decisive actions. In dealing with cronyism, Imam Ali (a) established a precise supervisory system, appointed competent individuals, and treated offenders justly without regard for personal relationships—thus presenting a unique model of just governance. This research adopts a descriptive-analytical method and draws upon reliable historical and narrative sources from both Shia and Sunni traditions. Findings indicate that the core principles of Imam Ali’s governance included justice-centeredness, transparency, accountability, and commitment to divine principles. The significance of this study lies in extracting practical models from the life of Imam Ali (a) to address contemporary problems. The results may serve as guidance for managers and policymakers in combating administrative corruption and social deviations, ultimately contributing to the establishment of a healthy and just society.
