Title

THE AUTUMN REVIEW OF THE DIVERSITY AND DENSITY OF AQUATIC BIRDS AND WADERS IN TRILOGY OF DAMGAH IN SORKHRUD INTERNATIONAL WETLAND

Pages

  33-42

Abstract

In present study, two international wetlands, Sorkhrud and Fereidonkenar in central zone of Hyrcanian lowland were studied. Both of them are registered in Ramsar convention sites. The majors were on biodiversity and density variations of plenty of AQUATIC BIRDS AND WADERS population in the mentioned area. Areas were different from 5427 ha in Fereidonkenar and 103 ha in Sorkhrud and both of them are artificial human made wetland which known by Damgah by local people (western part of Sorkhrud is 40 ha, Southern is 30 ha and the new part in the middle of area is 33 ha). Birds were counted through the total count method and done by a binocular (10 x 50). Totally, 13 kind of AQUATIC BIRDS AND WADERS identified as dominance species. The monthly average was 7461 for eastern part, 9519 in new central part and 7461 in eastern part. The crude density of birds were 198.34, 228.6 and 278.34 per ha respectively.Common teal (Anas crecca), greyleg goose (Anser anser) and mallard (Anas platyrhynchos) were the most dominant species in the mentioned area. The main percent of birds population are migratory birds which coming from north to find wintering habitats. Some of BIODIVERSITY INDICES in Sorkhrud wetland were a species richness of 2.8069 and 0.5055 for Menhinick and Margalef respectively, 1.73 for simpson, pauly 1.74, shannonwiner 3.86. Eventually, it seems birds prefer several small habitats with close distance for movement more than a unique and great habitat.
