Abstract

Aim: Electro magnetic fields (EMFs) on SPERMATOGENESIS, blood serum protein level and alkalin phosphatase of mice have been investigated.Material and methods: Male adult Balb/c were arranged in 3 groups (control, sham-exposed, experimental-n=6-). In experimental group, mice received EMFs (120 gauss and frequency of 100 Hz) twice every time 7 hours in two consecutive days. After 48h, the animals were   be weighed and dissected. The number of germ cells in testes with histotechnic assay, assessment of alkalin phosphatase with auto analyzer and measurement of blood serum protein with electrophoresis assay were investigated. Results: No significant difference observed in mice weight and testes weight. The number of spermatogonia and secondry spermatocyte showed significant increase (p£0.05)  in  experimental group rather control, sham-exposed. Assessment of serum proteins indicated between 5 essential proteins in blood, percentage of alpha-globulins showed significant reduction (p£0.05) in experimental group. Evaluation of alkalin phosphatase didn’t show significant difference. Conclusion: Exposing Balb/c mice to EMFs with low frequency (120 gauss and frequency of 100 Hz) has led to changes in testis tissue such as increasing secondry spermatocyte, syncitium state in spermatogenic cells, distruction interstitial tissue. These changes can cause reduction of fertility.
