Abstract

The main purpose of this study was to assessing the factors affecting COMMUNICATION BEHAVIOR of WHEAT GROWERS carried out through a survey method. The statistical population of this study consisted of two groups of 700 wheat farmers who attended and not attended extension classes with regard to WHEAT WASTE MANAGEMENT in the Markazi province in 2008. Based on Cochran's formula, 103 wheat farmers were selected as sample. To collect data, a structured questionnaire was used. Validity of questionnaire (Face validity) was obtained by a panel of experts and university professors. The reliability and validity of the WHEAT GROWERS’ COMMUNICATION BEHAVIOR Indices were determined. Cronbach’s alpha computed to measure reliability of the indices consisting rate of using INFORMATION SOURCEs, rate of communication with extension agents were 0.82, 0.88 respectively. The findings of the study revealed that neighbors and sellers of input in both of groups are the most important INFORMATION SOURCEs for WHEAT GROWERS. The most effective variable in WHEAT GROWERS’ communication with extension agents in both of group (trained and non trained farmers) is the frequency of participating in extension and educational courses; and also the most effective factor in level of using INFORMATION SOURCEs is the rate of their communication with extension agents.
