Abstract

The major purpose of this study was to investigate the information- seeking behavior (ISB) of the STRAWBERRY GROWERS in Kurdistan province in Iran. Statistical population of the study consisted of 1100 STRAWBERRY GROWERS in Kurdistan province out of which 180 were selected through stratified random sampling, from Sanandaj, Savabad and Kamyaran, the three major cities in strawberry production. Inferential analysis revealed a significant relationship between farmers' information- seeking behavior and number of household members, farm size, income, distance from market, access to inputs, and information needs. Such predictor variables as farm size, information needed, distance from market and the number of household members that entered in the stepwise Multiple Regression Analysis equation could express 44.4% of ISB in four phases. Applying one-way analysis of variance showed significant difference among the three cities in terms of ISB among their STRAWBERRY GROWERS, and such that farmers in Sanandaj (provintial city center) were shown to enjoy a higher ISB than in other cities.
