Title

THE EFFECT OF NITROGEN SPLIT ON ASSIMILATION AND PARTITIONING DRY MATTER AND NITROGEN IN CHICKPEA UNDER AHVAZ CONDITIONS

Pages

  13-23

Abstract

In order to investigate the effect of NITROGEN spliting on assimilation rate and partitioning of DRY MATTER and NITROGEN in CHICKPEA, a field experiment was conducted in the college of Shahid Chamran University in Ahwaz during 2001-2002. A split plot test in a complete randomized block design with three replications was used. Two cultivars (Jam and Flip 84-48), as main plots and five NITROGEN split levels (b1, b2, b3, b4, b5) as subplots were considered.NITROGEN split traeatments were as:b1 (50 kg at planting time +0 kg at flowering time) b2 (0 kg at planting +0 kg at flowering)b3 (25 kg at planting +0 kg at flowering) b4 (25 kg at planting +25 kg at planting)b5 (0 kg at planting +25 kg at planting) Results showed that the maximum accumlation of DRY MATTER in stem was in b4 and b5 treatments, that were 1071 and 1100 g m-2 respectively. A similar results were obtained for leaf DRY MATTER, which was 201.6 and 218.8 g m-2 for b4 and b5 trertments respectively. The effect of NITROGEN application as topdressing at flowering time (b4 and b5 treatments) caused maximum NITROGEN accumulation in different parts of plants compared to the other N levels, while N- accumulation in plants for b2 and b3 levels were at least.
