Abstract

The mean sea level is defined as the mean of total effects of TIDEs and storm surges, and it changes under the influence of factors such as TIDE, storm surge, wind, atmospheric pressure changes, global warming, Coriolis effect, sea bed topography and etc. The purpose of this study is to analyze the monthly mean sea level water variations of PERSIAN GULF, using mean SEA LEVEL DATA analysis in Bushehr, Bandar-Abbass and Imam Hassan port stations by a period of 10 years (1999-2008). The difference of the monthly min and max points in the abovementioned stations is 34.cm, 20cm and 30cm, respectively. The highest sea levels are reported for June, July, August, and the lowest sea level is reported for February. The most significant factor for the rise of sea level in PERSIAN GULF is the water thermal expansion. Consequently, as a result of thermal expansion, the sea level rise in the summer and the autumn and it decreases in the winter and the spring. According this analysis mean rate of sea level rise in Bandar-Abbass is 3 mm/year, In Bushehr 9 mm/ year and in Imam Hassan 12 mm/year Considering the data reported from Bandar-Abbass station, the sea level rise is expected by the year 2050.
