Abstract

since ports have always had a vital role in the international trading and commodity transportation, their appropriate planning, can play an important role in the growth, development and the economic boom of the port and, hence, the region. A primary measure needed for an appropriate port planning is to identify the set of elements of its INTERNAL ENVIRONMENT (weaknesses and STRONG POINTS) and factors of its EXTERNAL ENVIRONMENT (opportunities and THREATS) affecting the ports’ activities.This research is to identify and prioritize the whole set of the internal and external elements of CHABAHAR PORT environment and as regards its objective, it is a practical-developmental researchwhich makes use of the Delphi’s descriptive survey approach for the analyses, investigations, and conclusions. Its target population is unlimited and the number of sample members after a pretest was found to be 96 based on Cochran formula. For data collection and measurement of variables, use has been made of questionnaires as the main tool.Initially, the internal and external factors (strengths, weaknesses, OPPORTUNITIES, and THREATS) affecting CHABAHAR PORT were identified, then the mean, standard deviation, and coefficient of variations were used for their analyses, and finally their PRIORITIZATION were presented according to the customers’ points of view.
