Abstract

 In all cultures, Folklore stories reflect the level of people’ s consciousness regarding the forces of nature, as well as people relationship with the nature. Geologic and Geomorphologic sites have been particularly attractive to humans for reasons such as their exoticism, immensity and colorfulness. Throughout human history, Geosites have formed a part of people’ s culture in different societies. In Cultural Geomorphology, the relationship between the cultural parts of a territory and the geomorphic background that has formed such cultural parts is examined. Some Geosites may be significant because they are part of the Folklore and beliefs of the people. Based on the field and analytical studies, this study aimed to investigate a number of karst Geosites in Zanjan Province during a 10-year period (2008-2017). The study of Folklore with regard to the formation of landforms such as And-Abad Gorge, Egdaha Too Spring, and Kharmaneh-sar Cave illustrates the role of karst landforms in people's livelihoods and beliefs. This includes stories that indicate water scarcity, which is one of the geographic and climatic characteristics of the area.
