Title

Extraction and Identification of flavon from Artemisia turanica Krasch the extractwhich has been collected from Esfarayen, Khorasan province

Abstract

 Many researches have been conducted on identification and Extraction of natural compoundsfrom Artemisia such as monoterpenes, sesquiterpens, diterpenes, Flavonoids, phenolic with thebiological and pharmaceutical properties. Due to the importance of this genus, the purpose ofthe present study is Extraction, purification and structure elucidation of a natural compound. This compound was isolated from aerial part of Artemisia turanica Krasch. in Esfarayen at fullflowering stage. So the Extract obtained by maceration method and evaporated to dryness. Thedried Extract defatted for removing the hydrocarbons with long chains and separated by columnchromatography over silica gel. All fractions were investigated by thin layer Chromatography todetermine the presence of natural compounds. Then, the natural compound was identified usingspectrometric methods (IR, 1HNMR and 13CNMR). The results led to the identification of aflavon called 3, 5, 3́ , 4́-tetrahydroxy, 7, 5́-methoxy Flavones, for the first time in this plant. Therefore, it is anticipated that the plant has high antioxidant effects due to the presence offlavonoids in the plant Extract.
