USING CLOVE OIL (EUGENIA CARYOPHILLATA) LOADED ON THE IRON NANOPARTICLES TO INDUCE ANESTHESIA IN RAINBOW TROUT (ONCORHYNCHUS MYKISS)

Abstract

 In this study, we anesthetized 50 pieces of RAINBOW TROUT (Oncorhynchus mykiss) with a mean weight of 155.8±24 g and mean length of 23.7±2cm in re-circulating system of International Hamoon Wetland Institute of Zabol University with 100, 75, 50, 25 and lOppm of clove oil (Eugenia caryophillata) loaded on the iron nano-particles, The time to reach the stages of sedation, loss of balance, light ANESTHESIA, and return to balance and complete recovery of each fish was measured and recorded. Results showed that with lower anesthetic concentration, ANESTHESIA occurs more slowly and recovery becomes faster. Minimum dose required for ANESTHESIA in this species using clove oil loaded on the iron nano-particles was found to be 10ppm which could induce ANESTHESIA on average in 2.16 minutes and the fish came around after about 4.65 minutes. Comparison of our results with those of other studies involving application of the clove oil on RAINBOW TROUT indicated that loading of clove oil on the iron nano-particles increased its anesthetic power up to 25 times.
