Title

A STUDY OF R BA2 CU3 O7-Δ (R: Y, GD AND SM) SUPERCONDUCTORS

Abstract

 In this paper, we report the results of an investigation on the properties of magnetic, microstructure, SEM, EDX, TGA, resistively of normal state and CRITICAL CURRENT DENSITY of RBA2CU3O7-Δ( R:Y, GD and Sm ) ceramic SUPERCONDUCTORs which have been made simultaneously with the same method. The results of substituting R show that increasing the ionic radius (R3+), the lattice parameters and therefore the unit cell volume will increase, but the crystal structure will remain orthorhombic. The measurement of the CRITICAL CURRENT DENSITY (Jc) shows that by decreasing the ionic radius, Jc increases. In the range of Jco and Jc, the current voltage characteristic curves follow the power model of V=αIβ. Also the resistively-temperature curves show that all the samples in the normal state behave as metallic. The GDBa2Cu3 O7-δ and SmBa2Cu3 O7-δ have the maximum and the minimum critical temperature respectively. The results of TGA experiments show that the GDBa2Cu307-ohas the maximum oxygen content. AC magnetic susceptibility measurements have shown that by decreasing the ionic radius, R3+, the Meissner effect enhances and the diamagnetism percentage of samples increases and energy dissipation decreases.
