Abstract

NBR Compounds with different formulations (filler, oil and other additives) were prepared and compression moulded at 160°C. The effect of formulation on the mechanical properties, oil resistance and oil sorption mechanism in motor oil for 72 h at 150°C were investigated. In this research we sought to design a formulation based on NBR for automotive applications. The result shows that using a blend of silica and carbon black is better than a silica or carbon black alone to achieve optimum mechanical properties and oil resistance. NBR Vu1canizatescontaining mineral aromatic oil has better mechanical properties and oil resistance than vu1canizatescontaining dioctyl phthalate.
