Abstract

In order to investigate effect of PLANT DENSITY on YIELD and YIELD components of common bean CULTIVARS a field experiment was conducted in 2003 in Shahre-rey. The experimental design was factorial experiment on basis of randomized complete block design with four replications. Five PLANT DENSITY (13.3, 16, 20, 26.6 and 40 p/m2) and three improved common bean CULTIVARS (Sayad, Akhtar and Derakhshan) were factores which studied. Results showed that effect of PLANT DENSITY on grain YIELD was significant at p<0.01. With increase of PLANT DENSITY grain YIELD also increased. The highest YIELD (415.11 g/m2) was achived in 40 p/m2. Effect of cultivar on grain YIELD was significant at p<0.01.The highest YIELD (349.29 g/m2) was achived with Sayad cultivar. Interaction effect of PLANT DENSITY and cultivar was not significant. With increase of PLANT DENSITY number of pod per m2 and plant height also increased but seed weight decreased. Effect of PLANT DENSITY on number of seed per pod and protein content was not significant. Sayad cultivar had highest number of pod and plant height but the lowest seed weight. Derakhshan cultivar had maximum seed weight and protein content. Effect of cultivar on seed per pod was not significant. Correlation of grain YIELD with number of pod, seed per pod and plant height was positive but with seed weight was negative. There was no significant correlation between grain YIELD and seed protein content. The highest correlation of grain YIELD observed with number of pod (r = 0.942). In order to sowing of common bean in Shahre-rey region we predicate use from Sayad or Derakhshan CULTIVARS with density of 40 p/m2.
