Abstract

 THE AIM OF THIS ARTICLE IS THE SIMULATION OF THE BAFFLED STIRRED TANK WITH 6 BLADES RUSHTON TURBINE THROUGH DIFFERENT INTERFACE LOCATIONS TO INVESTIGATE THEIR EFFECTS IN PREDICTING THE FLUIDS HYDRODYNAMICS IN TURBULENT FLOW FIELDS. IN ALL SIMULATIONS PISO PRESSURE-VELOCITY COUPLE, PRESTO DISCRETIZATION SCHEME FOR PRESSURE AND THE LES FOR TURBULENT MODEL WAS USED. ALSO WE USED MRF’S RESULTS AS A INITIAL GUESS FOR SM MODEL. THE EXPERIMENTAL VELOCITY DISTRIBUTIONS WERE COMPARED WITH THE NUMERICAL ONES. RESULTS INDICATED THAT THE INTERFACE LOCATION HAVE TO BE BETWEEN 7 TO 10 CM FROM CENTER OF THE TANK. AND IT IS IN GOOD AGREEMENT WITH PREVIOUS WORK BY LEE AND YIANNESKIS.
